76 trombones

today was my sister's birthday and we visited my grandmother in Keene. the reason we spent the day there and not here is because we went to see the Keene Lion's Club presentation of The Music Man. the show was dedicated to my grampie. it was actually pretty good, too. the guy who played Harold Hill was excellent, as well as the woman who was Marion Paroo. i'd never seen the show before, but i really liked it. and the scene at the end on the footbridge is so pretty. i couldn't help watching the shilhouettes on the backdrop instead of the actual actors because it was so pretty.

i wish parker would do a musical. or something that's not a tragedy.

i'm not at all psyched about this Antigone business. there are so few roles and i know that she's just going to break the chorus's part into a million bajillion pieces and if you don't get an actual role then it won't be worth being in the play. i think that if she doesn't cast me as a more central character, i just won't do it. i'm not trying to be snotty - i know i'm not that great of an actress to begin with - but i don't want to spend a ton of time on something that's not at all satisfying to me. and we do so many weird plays. why not just a happy musical for once? or just something with an ending that isn't depressing?

i really wish she'd do A Midsummer Night's Dream. i think i might beg her to do that one next year. i can think of so many people who would work so perfectly in that play. and i just loooove it. can't you see jake as nick bottom? it would be soooooo great.
