Harry didn't really know if he should be that happy about that whole letter he had gotten from the Ministry that morning. He had enough trouble as it was, just having finally finished his Auror training and finally being able to start properly. And now he was going to be stuck in house for who knew how long, with who knew whom and he didn't really didn't know if he liked that prospect. Well, at least he knew that his boss didn't but couldn't really do anything against it.
So still in his Auror robes, Harry entered the Leaky Cauldron, finding it to his surprise quite filled and moved to his usual place in the corner. He was looking forward to having a drink and then to return home and enjoy his last days of peace.
Neville sat up a little straighter, his eyes inexplicably drawn towards the dark robed figure as he swept into the crowded room, despite how busy the place seemed to be. Harry was unmistakeable - his hair still didn't stay in place - and despite the war being over, there was still that familiar scar on his forehead - visible even from this distance
( ... )
"Neville," Harry greeted the other man in surprise, a smile playing across his face. He was glad to see a familiar face, knowing that at least with his friends he knew where he lay with them, while some people only tried to befriend him because of his fame. He looked slightly in surprise again at Neville's words, immediately recognizing the envelope and felt slightly relieved.
"Glad to see that I am not the only one having to go. Who else do you know is coming?" Harry asked curiously. He hadn't really had the chance to gather more information about the whole event, and felt quite misinformed, something that he didn't like at all.
"Oh, I don't expect to win, or anything...but it's a break from teaching, and I get to spend it with people I know." He sat forwards, dropping his hand down to the letter and opening it. Inside the letter looked up at them inocently, but flicking it with his wrist opened it to twice the size, and revealed the list of names and photographs of the other people who would be coming with them.
"See, almost everyone is here. Ginny, Hermione and Luna, obviously." He ran one finger down the list slowly. "Then, of course, there's Draco...though why he needs the money I have no idea. Pansy...and this Montague guy - I don't like him. Then there's Romilda Vane...I bet you remember -her- Harry..."
Neville frowned and pointed out the other names. "You know George Weasley, right...but there's also Terry Boot, and a couple of other players...they're not here." He looked around, then back at Harry abruptly. "Um...can I get you something to drink? This orange juice is really splendid..."
"It's not as if we really have a chance to say no anyway," Harry replied with a small sigh and then looked at the list that Neville had pulled out. He nodded at every name, smiling as he saw Hermione's, Ginny's and George's name. At least this slowly seemed to be looking more like fun than big trouble. Maybe he could actually enjoy his time there.
"Ohh yes I remember her, as long as she doesn't try to poison me again," he said as Romilda was mentioned shaking his head a little. He had only remembered to well the chocolates he had gotten from her, who at the end poor Ron had ended up eating. He couldn't help but chuckle as he remembered how Ron had acted, and Harry had to admit that he didn't really ever want to go through the effects of a potion that kind.
"Sure.. an orange juice would be great, thanks Neville," Harry replied.
