It was lunchtime, and as such, Neville had discovered another wasted morning devoted only to ducking around other people as they arrived for breakfast, helping those who asked for it - which seemed to be more people by the day - and eventually managing to sneak off with a chicken sandwich for lunch.
But having devoted yet another morning to nothing - and wasn't the kitchen looking sparkly now? - Neville's frustration was rising. Montague and Boot seemed to never get out of bed, while Pansy was late enough to agitate him (although he couldn't stay angry at her). He was at the end of his tether; some dirt was going to fly.
So, armed with his new cleaning spells - and holding his wand particularly tightly - Neville burst back into the bedroom and with a flick of his wand lifted the obscurus that let them all sleep, filling the large room with bright midday sunlight.
He started with his own bed; a strong cleaning charm on the blankets and the mattress - thanks to Ginny - was exactly what it needed, and the blankets gave off that freshly cleaned smell; almost with gratitude. Now he needed to get rid of the spiderswebs and suck the dust up off the carpet...and maybe the thick smell of sex would go away. Neville could only think of poor Pansy - the smell of masturbation would be offensive to any delicate nose, and if he could smell it then it really must be bad.
