Neville lifted his wand quick as a flash, flicked it towards the movement and cast, but he was too slow. He scrabbled back to his feet with some effort. He hated attacking women; but one punishment had been enough. Sleeping naked outside had had dire consequences. He wriggled his way underneath the low lying bush, making himself comfortable, wand training in both directions expectantly.
A paintball flew past her into the trees behind. Someone was out here. Leaning down, Rita slipped out of her shoes. She couldn't possibly run properly in them, and she was going to have to if she wanted to avoid being blasted.
Now, who was out here with her, and where?
If only she could transform and hunt properly, they wouldn't stand a chance. But she couldn't risk it.
She moved as quietly as she could for a few steps, then darted from behind this tree to the next, wand out and ready. Looked around for movement, heart beating fast. This was actually sort of fun.
Something shifted - a shadow, or a person, and she shot off a spell in that direction. A bird squawked and fluttered up from the trees.
Shit. She'd given away her position. She turned and ran for cover.
Ginny heard the klaxon go, and immediately the adrenaline kicked in.
Stealth. Seek. Survive.
She cast a Disillusionment charm on herself - it would help her get into a tactical position - and headed out to the garden, sneaking from one point of cover to another.
As she snuck out of the house, she heard a squawk, and dived for cover. It was only a bird... But she spotted Rita making a beelinme for a nearby bush.
Wand in hand, she crouched and let fly with a stream of paintballs aimed at the retreating witch's back, legs tensed ready to dive for cover if needed.
Rita was hit, twice, and fuck, it hurt. She turned dodging the last , and shot off her own in the direction they'd come, even though she couldn't see anyone.
She darted off, and took a moment to regain her breath. This wasn't working. She stood out like a sore thumb. With a whispered breath, she cast a chameleon charm on her clothes, then moved through the garden again in search of prey.
Ginny dived as she saw Rita's incoming shots. They would probably have missed, but she didn't want to take any chances. She grabbed a leaf from one of the plants and used an couple of charms on it, making it big and sturdy enough to use as a shield.
Next, she attempted to use a locator charm to indicate Neville's hiding place; it was hard to do while still being on the lookout, but he just about maganed it, and set off through the flowerbeds.
Someone was coming towards him crushing flowers. It was a travesty, and Neville leapt forwards, shooting out volleys of glittering gold paintballs at the disillusioned feet. So he was the only one playing this game completely honestly, was he? Well, she'd suffer for killing innocent flowers. As soon as he could see her, that was - but the paint would certainly help in that respect. If only he got the shot in correctly. If not, he'd just thrown himself straight into position to be bombarded by his housemates.
Neville's attack caught Ginny off guard - She'd been expecting shots aimed at the body, so when the ground around her exploded into gold, she jumped backwards, taking a couple of hits to her trainers.
She tensed her body, and as she landed on her back, she rolled through the impact as best she could, coming up with her shield out in front of her and her wand aimed at her attacker. She unleashed a stream of paint, in Harpy colours, at him.
Rita burst out of the trees when she heard the commotion. They were both there! She could see Neville and a pair of gold feet. They were busy attacking each other.
Rita hurled her own spells into the fray - her paintballs coming out a lurid shade of green. She hadn't really aimed, so she hoped they hit. She stayed close so she could see them both. Crouched down in front of a nearby bush. They'd be able to see her if they looked closely - only her clothes blended with the bushes - but surely they were too focussed on each other.
Rita jumped out of her seat and tried to make it to the garden before anyone could catch her.
She didn't like this challenge at all. Her clothes! They'd be ruined!
She drew her wand and slipped behind a tree, in full view of the back door.
Now, to score some points without being hit herself...
