As I write this I know that when it is published I will be enjoying my last day of privacy before I enter the Wizardwatch house on Monday, August 20. I must say, dear readers, that I am rather excited.
When I saw the announcement I was quite surprised, both by the convenience of the random selection popping out such famous names, and also by the claim that I am the Ministry's 'own'. I had no idea I was affiliated with the Ministry! One learns something new every day, though; is that not how the saying goes?
But I digress. I, of all the witches over thirty in the world, have been chosen to share a house with a house full of young men and women for the next twelve weeks, or for as long as you, my dear readers, can bear to have me gone from the pages of the Prophet. And what a delicious opportunity. As you all know, I have had a special friendship with Harry Potter since he spoke to me exclusively for the Quibbler all those years ago. It will be a delight to see him again in such an intimate setting, and you, my dear readers, can be sure that I will share all with you when I return from my stay.
You will, of course, be able to see me while I'm away. I must confess that as a reporter I am unused to being in the spotlight myself - my job of course requiring me to hide humbly behind my pen as I deliver the news of others' exciting lives to you - and I am unused to performing interviews before an audience. I will attempt, though, dear readers, to open up my fellow contestants for your enjoyment. I have no doubt they are full of delightful and scandalous stories.
So, my dears, I bid you adieu. Tomorrow, I go in, and while you will be able to see me, I will not be able to hear from you. I shall miss you, readers, but we really won't be apart too long.
