“So what are you dreaming about?” He asked as she lifted her other eyelid.
“Trying to find my enchanted slumber, I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night.”
“Really? But we still have two hours until camp activities you could catch a cat nap right now, I’ll wake you up later.”
“No it’s fine; really I should get going…” She said before rising and looking down at Kevin’s face.
“Do you want some company?” He asked getting up and linking his arm in hers she pulled back a little.
“Really you don’t have to, don’t you have to go and slay some dragon?”
“Only when that time comes that a dragon should get in between my princess! So Emma you never told me if you believe in love at first sight!” He asked seriously, her eyes bulging she was thankful that at that time she heard a very familiar tone.
I didn’t want to listen to what you were saying
I thought that I knew all that I need to know
I didn’t realize that somewhere inside me
I knew you were right but I couldn’t say so.
Her phone let out a steady ringtone as she grabbed it out her swing bag; she looked at the name for the incoming call.
Tess Locke-Reed
Kevin glanced down out of impulse and than grabbed Emma’s hand tighter to prevent her from flipping the phone open.
“Tess? As in Bridgette’s sister?” He inquired, she gave a sly giggle.
“Tess knew the limits, and Bridgette doesn’t know when to stop falling. She’s a really good friend of mine, when I can’t seem to find anybody.”
Kevin released his grip and let her walk down the stairs away from him; he called out down the stairs in an echo.
“Yeah and I’m your friend too, just so you know you’ve got back up.”
She smiled as she neared the landing and hit the phone’s answer key.
“Hey Tess sorry to keep you waiting!” She said into the phone.
“Hey there Lil’ shooting star guess what?”
“What Tess?”
“I just got a job! In California! That means in a few weeks I’m moving out near you guys! I can’t wait to see you, how long has it been?”
“Too long Tess, too long.”
“I haven’t even told Bridgette yet, but I had to tell somebody! Your reactions are always the best, so what have you been up to lately?”
“Well funny you should ask that, Bridgette is at the same summer camp I’m at….”
“That same camp she’s been going to for the past two summers? Has she even learned anything?” Tess’s sweet voice said.
“I think she’s finally getting that the camp bunks are north!” They laughed for a long time after that.
“I swear that girl couldn’t find herself if you gave her a mirror!” She said dissing her sister; she could hear Lily crack up laughing in between trying to regain her breathing. “Alright, she’s my sister I’ll stop with the remarks…for now. So got anything else to tell me?”
“Well besides that Wildest Dreams Record Label was officially handed over to your family, I think I don’t have anything else to say!” She said sadly into the phone as Kevin made his way down the stairs.
“Yeah I got the memo, Lily I didn’t mean for this to happen. I wish I could take it back, but I promise you that when we take over the business, I’ll make sure you get anything that belongs to you!”
“Thanks Bridgette but I’m not sure there is anything left there for me.” She said as Kevin opened up the door and held it open for her with his foot. “Listen can I ask you something really quickly before I leave?”
“Anything Lil’ shooting star!”
“How long should a black-and-black mark last?”
“A few days at the least, why?” She asked her nurse’s intuition taking over.
“Well I was just wondering because I got one four days ago and it seems to have gotten more vibrant in color.”
“I’m sure it’s nothing Lily, but just watch it and call me when you can! I can’t wait to talk to you again, let alone see you! Bye!”
“Talk to you soon, I can’t wait to see you too!” She said and than clicked the phone off, heading outside with Kevin. He kept smiling down at her; she looked at him eye to eye, until she ran right into Bridgette.
Joe and Nick who had just gotten up rolled out of their bunks lazily made their way to their classes in record time. Before they made their way to their designated areas they came to a bridge over troubled water.
“Well, well Emma. Don’t think that you can just go around and be all buddy-buddy with my sister, that’s not going to get you any closer to what is now ours.”
“She called me Bridgette, not the other way around!”
“I don’t care; you shouldn’t think that you should be so fortunate to even talk to the likes of people like us!”
Her happiness that had overwhelmed her these past few days, seem like a distant memory when Bridgette kept her in her place.
“I should be fortunate Bridgette to have people that care about me for what I am, not what I can get for them!”
“Keep telling yourself that!”
“Did you have something to say Bridgette, or do you just like the sound of your own voice?” Joe said as Bridgette felt a cackle from her throat come out of her mouth.
“I have something to say!” Bridgette said in a pout. “Being the heir to the record label I just wanted to tell you that the flagship building in Eastnorthumberland is sitting there rotting and I’m moving to Hollywood! Pity that it should go to waste, maybe if somebody put a match to it than maybe it could used as a compost pile! Than look who’s talent is going to rot there!” She said evilly. “Do you need me to write that on a sticky note for you?”
“Don’t waste paper or your breath Bridgette! I’m not going to rot!”
“What makes you say that Lily? Once the fire burns it keeps going until it’s nothing more than black ash!” She said as if anybody was listening, Kevin has placed his arm around hers and Joe was standing in between the two girls’.
“Unless somebody had the key to the studio and could open it up before that even happened!” Lily said the fire of her own soul burning bright.
“You wouldn’t dare!” Bridgette replied her cold gray eyes like ice.
“You’re NOT going to get my record label without a fight!” Lily screamed.
“It’s NOT yours!” Bridgette spat her icy stare at everyone.
Kevin took his palm and rubbed it against her shoulder, unfortunately Bridgette was down four to zero.
“Do you need me to read you the letter over again? I memorized it word for word!”
“The paper isn’t going to tell you where the key to the studio is! Keep up with us Bridgette!”
“Alright than if you’re so smart tell me where the key is now!”
“No Bridgette it’s not who has the key now, but who’s going to get the key first when who’s going to get the key when we get home!” Lily said with confidence but totally confused as to where the key to the recording label would be in something she thought had been packed away from her.
Author Notes: You just read 31 pages! Congrats! Again I’m so honored that you waited this long for the chapter to be uploaded! Don’t forget to keep those pencils sharp and taking notes, because this is leading into the sequel! I hope that you liked meeting Tess, but she’s going to return! I’m off to take a vacation so I will come back with fresh ideas! I hope you all saw the Camp Rock movie trailer on Disney Channel last night, how excited are you? It gave me so many new ideas but I will have to let you know that is still so much to my story that you haven’t seen yet, but I am so glad that I could tell you about my plans for a sequel and third story, it’s worth all this waiting! The poll is due to closed and I think it is safe to answer the winner, so first off thank you to all the voters who spent time voting for their favorite song. The winner is “Just Friends” by The Jonas Brothers! I had planned to place this song in this story, but up until recent events this story has a more meaningful placement for Kevin and Lily in the third story! You’ll have to wait a little bit longer, but you won’t be disappointed when you read it! When the image came to me as I was planning on the sequel/third story, I knew it had to go there and not before! Please take time to read and review, and know that this chapter has been worth the while, it’s been amazing and more than fun to write!
Until Chapter twelve! Rock your life! Bye!
