Morpheus Fields Chapter 7Tommy hadn’t see Adam for a week, again. He had to wonder if it was due to the fact that he had kissed him and demanded to know who he really was. Just his luck the hottest guy he had ever seen was a fucking God. How did a human tempt a God anyway? He was sure as hell going to do his best to find out. He wanted to kiss Adam again, to kiss him and more.
He had been practicing his lucid dreaming and could change the surroundings in his dream at will. He could stay there almost as long as his dream was as well. From what he had read about Morpheus, Adam would be able to manipulate the dream at will. He had seen him do it once. He had turned all the flowers in the field to red poppies. He was tired of waiting for Adam to come to him. He needed to see him and he needed it soon. If only he could find a way to follow Adam back to where it was he came from.
Spending more time with Lisa had reduced the time he spent with his drug buddies. Jack had tried to get him to smoke some dope, but what with Lisa pregnant and alone and Adam taking up his thoughts, he hadn’t felt the need to use but every now and then. He had tamped those urges down. He had to keep his mind clear to be aware enough to control his dreams when Adam showed back up.
The little devil in his head told him just smoking some pot wouldn’t hurt anything. Besides, Lisa would never have to know. And maybe it would help with the lucid dreaming since it put him in a more relaxed state. He had to try it. No harm, no foul, right?
Pulling his stash box out from beneath his bed, he opened it and pulled out a joint. He lit the end, took a deep drag and leaned back against the headboard, letting the smoke work its magic as it entered his bloodstream. He took another deep inhale, feeling the pot work its way through his body. Ah yeah, that will work just fine, he thought as he took one more drag and put the joint out in the ashtray and lay down. His eyes lids heavy, he ran through all he had learned in the last two weeks and sleep began to pull him under.
When he opened his eyes, he was in the field of flowers. He waited for Adam to show up, grinning like a kid.
Adam entered the gate that would take him to Tommy. One day away and he already missed the human. Too much, it was too much, and Adam knew it. He was far too attached to the human and he had no clue how to stop it or slow it down. When he lay down to rest, the blonde man filled his senses, his smell invaded his nose; he longed to run his hands through the pink tinged blonde locks. He could almost feel Tommy’s hair in his hands. And that kiss, he couldn’t get that kiss out of his mind. He wanted to kiss Tommy again and again. He wanted to kiss the human until his length was buried in Tommy’s body and the human was screaming his name over and over. He wanted to look into Tommy’s eyes and know that the passion he saw there was because of him. He had never wanted another as much as he did Tommy.
But he couldn’t have him. No matter what the Sister’s told him or what fate dictated, Tommy had his own fate to fulfill and he couldn’t take that away, couldn’t snatch the human from his fate and keep him. No matter how much he wanted to, he wouldn’t intervene. He would do his job and leave the human be. If it was meant to happen, something would see to it that it did. He refused to manipulate the situation to suit what he wanted, what he was coming to need.
He entered the field in his usual place and stopped. It was dark, not daylight as it normally was, and there was a light emanating from the middle of the field, a soft glow through the grass. With a furrowed brow, somewhat confused, he made his way to the center of the field. As he went he noticed small changes around him. The flowers were all red, and as he looked closer, they were all poppies, much like he had changed them into once himself. With his lips turned down into a true frown, he stopped at the source of the light. A blanket was spread out over the grass, which had been tramped down, and luminaries were set up around it except for where he stood.
‘What the hell?’ He thought to himself. He startled as a voice spoke from behind him. For the second time, Tommy has snuck up on him.
"Do you like it?" Tommy whispered in his ear.
He turned and grabbed the blonde before he could run or dart out of reach. "What are you playing at?" He demanded. "Do you have any idea what you’re doing?"
Tommy looked up at him through his lashes. "I know what I’m doing. I’ve been practicing, can’t you tell?"
"Tommy, you can’t play this kind of game with me. I can control these surroundings faster than you can ever learn." To demonstrate, he made the sun shine and the birds sing. He looked back to Tommy, "See?"
He could see the concentration in Tommy’s eyes as the light dimmed and blinked out and the birds hushed. "This is my dream, not yours."
Blinking in shock, he didn’t know what to say for a moment, so he just stared into Tommy’s dark eyes that glowed with the light of the luminaries. Before he could stop himself, he whispered, "You’re beautiful like this."
He watched a smile, a real one, spread across Tommy’s face. "I thought you might like this. I assumed you aren’t fond of bright light. Was I right?"
Adam ignored the question and instead asked one of his own. "You know who I am; do you know what I visit people dreams for?"
Tommy’s smile faltered a little. "I think so…"
"Then what are you playing at? You can’t out control me here, you have to know that. You can’t control me anywhere."
Tommy’s was frowning now, and Adam had to admit that he liked the smile much better, but he didn’t say so out loud.
"I don’t want to control you, just the dream, that’s all. It’s my dream!" Tommy began pacing. "What are you doing in my dream anyway? Shouldn’t you be, like, trying to change the world or something? Isn’t that what you do? Fool around with people’s dreams to get them to do what you think they should?"
Adam took a deep breath, "I can’t talk about what I do with you Tommy. You’ve read about me, I take it? So you know that I won’t answer those kinds of questions."
Tommy looked at him for a long time and then he was gone. Adam blinked, he spun around and Tommy was lying on the blanket, holding out his hand.
"Come lay down with me?"
Adam swallowed. It shouldn’t be possible for his mouth to go dry; he was a God, after all. Not that it mattered right at that minute; what currently mattered was that Tommy was reaching for him and he was lucid and not following some pattern his brain had set for him. He wasn’t following one Adam had set for him either. Thoughts and snippets raced through his mind as he tried to work out the right thing to do. But all thought fled as Tommy set up and took off his shirt, unbuttoned his pants, and then leaned back on his elbows.
"So are you joining me, or what?" Tommy reached out for him again.
Adam could see that Tommy was doing his best to act casual, but he wasn’t very convincing. He allowed himself to be pulled down and he sat beside Tommy.
"We can’t." Was all he knew to say, because he had never wanted anything more than he wanted Tommy in that moment.
Tommy dug deep down to find what confidence he had. He could tell that Adam wanted him. He could feel it. He wasn’t taking no for an answer. God or no God, he wanted Morpheus and he was going to have him. He reached for Adam again and pulled him down. This time he didn’t fight but he did say, "We can’t."
"Why not? Just a kiss? Just one? What could that hurt?" Tommy almost pouted but what pride he had kept him from it.
He watched Adam’s eyes and waited. He saw them close as Adam took a deep breath, no doubt to tell him why this wasn’t a good idea. He took to opportunity and brought their lips together.
That’s all it took. He knew the minute that Adam’s hand slid to the back of his neck he had him right where he wanted him. Adam’s tongue slicked its way into his mouth and he wrapped his own around it, pulling it in deeper and sucking on it. He couldn’t have stopped the moan that rumbled through him if his life had depended on it.
Adam tightened his hold on him and took the kiss deeper, slipping his tongue in and out of his mouth like he was fucking him with it. He pulled away and gasped for air, moaning out as he sucked in breath, "God yes!"
He cracked his eyes open as he heard an unfamiliar sound come from the man holding him tight. What he saw brought a smile to his face. "You’re laughing at me? Now?"
"It’s just, that was…" Adam’s laughter filled his ears fully for the first time and it was beautiful.
Tommy thought about what he could have done and then it hit him, "Oh, yeah, I get it. The whole ‘god, yes’ thing?"
Adam laughed harder, and tumbled down on top of him, keeping most of his weight off of him. "Seriously, though Tommy, we can’t do this." Adam brushed his hair from his face and continued to pet him.
"Why? I want this." Tommy arched up to rub his hardened cock into Adam’s, who was just as hard. "You want this." He rubbed up into him harder. "What’s the problem?"
He watched as Adam pulled back. "Don’t." Adam untangled himself from him. "We can’t. My job is to make sure you do what you are fated to do, not fuck you."
Tommy set up and rubbed his hand over Adam’s straining erection. "Please."
"No. I’m leaving and I’m sending someone else to guide you, Tommy. I can’t do this anymore."
"Please."
His hand slipped from Adam’s crotch as Adam pulled away from him and he started to fade from the dream.
"NO!" Tommy yelled and jumped into the space Adam had vanished from.
He felt a tingling sensation and then he was squeezed tightly and spit out upon gray land. He moaned as he rolled over and looked up into gray sky.
"Fuck, that hurt like hell." He got up on his knees to see a pair of black boots.
"What the fuck Tommy?" Blue glowing eyes flashed at him and he could see the anger barely held in control.
"I followed you." Tommy mumbled as he tried to get to his feet.
"No shit." Adam reached a hand down to him. "Come on." Adam pulled him up and steadied him. "You can’t go back yet. Time passes slower here than it does in your world. A week will pass there while you are here a day."
"Okay."
Adam shook his head. "Come on, you can stay with me."
Nyx watched behind her invisible veil and smiled. It seems that the human wasn’t taking no for an answer. It was time for her to get involved. Her son’s happiness was at stake.
