To the PHB
1) When I say "I was on my way home, but got snowed in. Don't think I'll make it tonight so probably won't be in tomorrow" that does not mean "I'm staying home, so I'll be able to work from over the internet." It means "I'm spending the night at a cheap hotel and will be driving very slowly tomorrow, so no, I won't be able to check my email." You being not happy that I couldn't work from home does not make me happy to have driven twice as long as I should have because some people are afraid of a little white stuff.
2) When I get an email saying "there are problems with X" and I spend 20 minutes looking at logs, researching code, eventually figuring out that, no, X does not have a problem, it does not help to forward me the email that I just replied to. I got the email, I looked at what it said, I responded already saying there is no problem. What more do you want?
3) Finally calling and telling me that, while the email says X you really meant Y, will go a long way to solving the problem.
