What'd you mean match the hallows with the characters? :P I don't remember them having a particular connection with the trio... I mean not separatedly at least.

There wasn't any relevence in paticular but when Hermonine explained about the Hallows they each said what one they would take.
I know of sure that Harry would have the stone because then he could bring people back from the dead, and I think that Ron wanted to be unbeatable... So that just leave Hermonie with the cloak, which was the one you are supposed to choose :P
And Hermonie is always right ;)
