Square cities and aliens

Dec 12, 2013 23:39

I brought you here under false pretenses.
I know you -
cannot resist a challenge
of things that come easy to you.
You came to build, knowing
nothing.

When you are as old as I, you cannot build on nothing.
But you can create a center, a place
to anchor yourself
and those next to you.
My buildings have floor 'zero'.

trivial differences in custom, or...
how I use space and time to teach.
Cities must be subtle.

The homes you are so alone in,
do not let you feel your neighbors.
The streets aligned
as if a plan mattered.
They hide the lifeblood of your place.
My arteries are visible, and named, and filled
and loved.

I brought you here to teach you
and chose to ask a question
one you cannot ignore.

I've made you feel
a gift,
before the truth

Your life as an alien
is self imposed.
