Windshields aren't all they're cracked up to be

I was concerned about a crack that had developed in my windshield, so I was going to go to an auto-glass specialist. However, with everything in my life breaking down seemingly at once, I put it off. There were three spots of interest to me; a sizable crack obscured by my rear-view, a tiny one toward the middle, and a barely discernible one near the base of the windshield. After this week's big snowstorm, one of them turned into a windshield-spanning crack. Which one? The littlest one, of course. The one so small I don't even know that I'd have done anything about it. Nothing at all happened with the larger ones.

I called Visions Auto-glass anyway and asked if there was anything that could be done short of replacing the entire windshield, and they said that if you can't cover it with a dollar bill then no. I don't think all the money in my wallet would come close to covering it, in more ways than one.

Other than that, I've been exercising after I work nights instead of holing up with a few beers. Going for a six-pack (Abs, not Miller), probably won't get there but it's good to have goals, even laughably unattainable ones. But my calf muscles cast a shadow on my leg now, so I guess that's pretty cool. And you wonder why gyms have those wall-length mirrors.

I will probably be even buffer soon, because I realized yesterday that I signed up to work every day from last Saturday (Dec 20) to next-next Monday (Jan 5th). I just snagged a few shifts when they'd open up, then someone would ask and I'd nab a few more. That amounts to a lot of workouts, extra overtime money and not much else. At least I can buy a new windshield.
