Dante’s overall history [ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Soul Description: Cocky, sarcastic, independent, stubborn, hot-headed, strong.
Soul Appearance: Dante's soul is coloured a bright red, like the Capcom red oni he is. The red symbolising how he is a more emotional character, the one who is wild, determined and generally more full of life. His eyes are blue like his real eyes are.
Here is a picture, courtesy of KB.Character Personality: First impression people have of him, he’s a douche. Dante always has a disparaging line at the ready and certainly doesn’t pull his punches. He’s sarcastic, flippant and has a way of speaking that makes him sound like he’s talking down on you. While this endears him to us, the viewer, those on the receiving end of his words don’t form quite as favourable impressions. This isn’t to say that Dante is a bad guy. He has a very strong sense of justice and will go to any lengths to help those in need. He’ll just make annoying quips while doing so. He’s also loathed to do anything he deems unfair.
He does not act seriously even when his life depends on it. He’ll take it all in his stride, while mouthing off at whatever’s threatening him. It’s important to note that while he doesn’t act seriously, he can take things seriously. Dante’s just very laidback about things. This is useful as he doesn’t lose his head in difficult situations. This isn’t to say that he’s cool headed, he’s more than capable of making a rash decision. When he’s made his plan he’ll jump into it headfirst because he’s made up his mind and absolutely nothing is going to get in his way. He’s just not the type to think things over logically. He’s a man of action and waiting around making plans just isn’t his style. When there is reason to take action, he’ll grab it with both hands.
Dante doesn’t have much patience for people he deems to be not worth his time. When his patience is tested he’s not above using violence to get rid of the annoyance. This is done more to scare them off rather than trying to actually injure them. Dante prefers working by himself, but has shown to be capable of working with others, notably when he teams up with his estranged twin, Vergil against Arkham. He works alone, because he doesn’t confide in others, he’ll shoulder the burden by himself if he feels responsible for it. Even when it is something that affects others, he’ll leave them behind to take care of the problem by himself.
Character Abilities: Dante is a half demon so it confers some special abilities. He is capable of transforming into his Devil form where his natural abilities such as his strength and speed are heightened. His Devil form causes him to become temporarily invincible and even when he isn’t in his Devil form his healing abilities are near instantaneous which means that he could get stabbed in the chest and get back up moments later. Blood loss is also normally not an issue and he handles pain extremely well. It’s not that he can’t feel pain; he just doesn’t let it affect him.
For some unfathomable reason, Dante can regenerate bullets. Any of his guns never run out of bullets. Seriously, the man could stand there shooting forever and there would always be bullets in his guns. Dante’s shooting skills are incredibly accurate, to the point where it pushes the boundaries of what’s actually possible. If he shoots to hit, it’ll hit. Put a weapon in his hand and he will be able to master it almost immediately, he’s able to use anything in his surroundings to fight. Dante is a highly proficient fighter (the man does kill demons for a living) and his demonic blood enhances his natural talents. His combat technique is highly stylised, but still dangerous. He also has some wicked taunts.
From some of the missions in the game we can conclude that Dante has some decent problem-solving skills. It isn’t a skill that he practices often though, as he prefers to handle everything with fighting.
As evidenced by his performance with Nevan, Dante plays a mean electric guitar. The drum-kit in his office also suggests that he is proficient at it as well. He’s a rather accomplished rock musician.
Character Weaknesses: Dante has a tendency to rush into things without thinking. Generally it was fine back in his world because his near instant regeneration from his Devil blood covered up any of his mistakes. But here, he’ll have to learn that it’s doesn’t always work like that. His ability to shrug off pain and wounds would be a liability in the setting as well. He’ll treat mortal wounds like its nothing serious and charged right back into the fray and without his demonic healing abilities it could be prove to be deadly.
His stubbornness is another weakness of his. Once he’s figured out what he’s got to do he’ll do it no matter how stupid it is. God forbid you try and talk some sense into him; it’ll be like talking to a brick wall, albeit one that will insult you while you are doing so. It’s a throwback trait from when he’s near invincible because of his demonic blood. When you’re practically invincible, there’s nothing to be worried about, which is also another weakness of his. Because he has no fear, he can’t judge when he should let something go. The man felled freaking LEVIATHAN in the game after all.
His personality is also quite polarising. You either like the guy or you don’t and this could be a problem where people who could have been of help to him end up wanting to kick his ass. He also doesn’t like relying on others, preferring to get everything do everything alone. He’s very wilful about that and shoulders all the burdens alone. Dante doesn’t know how or wants to ask others for help.
[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Weapon: While Dante can wield any weapon he has a tendency to get manipulated by other characters. He always seems to end up doing someone else’s dirty work so it makes sense for him to be a Weapon here.
Whenever there’s fighting going on, Dante can usually be found right in the thick of it. He’s not the type who’ll stand back and let others do all the dirty work. There’s a part of him that can’t stand just watching on the sidelines.
What is your character's Weapon form?: He looks like his sword Rebellion. This form has been chosen as it is Dante’s trademark weapon and it serves as a physical manifestation of his power. When any Meister tries to use it Dante will have the form of his
unawakened Rebellion and when the Meister is capable of reaching the final level of resonation he changes to his
awakened form. It is important to note that the only differences between his awakened and unawakened forms are the crossguard and the end of the handle. The sword itself is like a standard claymore. Rebellion is one of those cut-through-anything-without-getting-damaged type swords.
Wielding his weapon form gives the Meister the Swordmaster style, which emphasizes and enhances mastery with a sword.
- Initial resonation confers the ability to use Prop Shredder (ground based move) and Aerial Rave (air based move). Prop shredder involves spinning the sword at high speeds, Aerial rave is an aerial multiple sword strike combo.
- Level 2 gives the wielder the ability to use Sword Pierce where the sword is thrown at the enemy, skewering them. Extensions of this move are Thrust Kick (ground based) and Flying Kick (aerial based), where the sword is kicked through the opponent’s body.
- Level 3 of resonation confers Dance Macabre and Crazy Dance. Dance Macabre involves a large number of slashes at very high speed and Crazy Dance is an extension of Dance Macabre where the sword is used as a something to spin round on to kick their enemies.
- The final level of resonation gives the Meister Dante’s Devil Trigger. This causes the Meister to transform into Dante’s Devil form and heightens their natural abilities making them faster and stronger than before and also confers very temporary invincibility. However this ability is severely energy draining on both the Meister and Dante so this form cannot be maintained for very long. Originally this form could be maintained for 30 seconds at best, but with training it is possible to extend this to a minute or even further.
The Meister will be able to learn other moves that Dante can automatically use in the game. Of course this would take time and lots of practice.
[ NOTES ]
Dante is a BAMF. The end.
