Final Thoughts: I'll probably look for more SEP books in the future. Good first impression.

I've never really browsed the romance shelves when I needed something to read, though I've always liked romantic plot elements in the other things I read. So I've been getting my feet wet, as it were, and since I knew I wanted to keep my reading fairly light this week, I took my friend chicklitter's indirect advice and found Susan elizabeth Phillips's books in the library. She's a big fan of SEP's, and I thought I might as well see what all the fuss was about.

Most of the stuff I've read that focuses on the romance would more properly be called chick lit - quick, light, funny, told in first person - and this is, I think, a step toward traditional "romances". As such, starting with the page count, this has a bit more meat in a lot of ways, and I liked that. I really liked Blue Bailey right from the start, and Dean grew on me fast, too. And the family angst was well done but not overdone - good connections grew through the story, and I believed it.

In a few years I'll probably come back to this and read it again, and probably enjoy it just as much. In the meanwhile, I'll pick up some more SEP titles here and there.
