Final Thoughts: Just as solid as the first - Asaro's turning into a favorite.
It's been two weeks since I finished this, but immediately thereafter I was struck with a massive head cold that effectively wiped out all activity on all fronts, which meant most efforts went towards making sure I sat next to a box of tissues and managed to eat at least two meals a day, rather than reviewing books or any number of other moderately productive options.
Even if I had just finished this yesterday, I wouldn't be posting much about its contents. It's a good book. It spans quite a wide span of time (15 years and more) and does an admirable job of growing characters over that time in addition to highlighting specific progressions in various characters. There are a lot of POV characters, but it's handled well. Good action, good relationships, etc. etc. etc.
In short, I recommend it, and will certainly keep Asaro near the top of the list when I need a new, quick read on which I can rely to be quite satisfying.
