It's been an...interesting couple of days. Finals seemed to go well, though I'll know better when grades get sent out. The stress seemed to hit me a little after my last exam, so I apologize if I was twitchy or curt Tuesday night. After campaign I went home, grabbed a book off my shelf, and sat in the hallway until I'd read it cover to cover. That was nice. Wednesday I packed my bags and read the sequel to the previous book, and Thursday it was off to the airport with Bernie and Francis. Francis seemed to get on her flight easily enough, so hopefully she made it hope alright. Unfortunately, my bad luck with airports finally realized my last two trips had gone smoothly, so both my 1:30 flight and my rescheduled 3:00 flight got canceled. Public transportation took pity on me, and Bernie and I managed to make it back to Brandeis without incident. After walking in the snow for what seemed like hours, we got back to his house, where he let me crash on the floor for the night. (I need to work on my paranoia. Maybe a small room with a single easily-watched entrance and an ally might be technically safer than a large, open room with no people and many entrances, some unseen, but unless someone is actually out to get me, comfortable couch should still overrule floor.)
I made it back to Logan by 10, found out my flight was delayed enough to ruin my connecting flights, was taken through several unpleasant options (ranging from "Go to DC and then be put on standby. You'll probably get out of there today..." to "Try this same thing again tomorrow! Third time's a charm.") I got them to put me on a flight to Nashville, instead. It's a two and half hour drive, but if there's a chance of getting out of here, I'm taking it. The nice couple sitting next to me were also on the 1:30 flight to Louisville yesterday, but they apparently managed to get another one to actually work for today. Hopefully they make it alright. Another fun coincidence, my adviser had a flight at the same gate as both of mine, A10. I didn't speak to her, because I don't think she knows me by sight, but they called her name for some reason or other. Again, hopefully all turns out well. The entire airport is chaos and it seems like everyone has some horrible story of delay and cancellation. Ah well, with any luck mine will be over in a couple hours.
In more cheerful news, Wednesday was the fiftieth anniversary of Music Man's Broadway opening. Telling me this glorious news has cemented Forgotten English's claim to my 2008 desk calendar. And it's even relevant to the calendar! "Cash for the noggins and the piggins and the firkins." Oh, Music Man. Con artists, humor, love songs, danger, and even archaic language. There are so many reasons you're one of my favorite musicals....
