the letdown spirals into silence.

truth of the matter is:

this never meant what it was supposed to,
some kind of filtered starlight and the way
everything spins on its access
until you can no longer tell
whose story
rolls weepingly from our throat.
instead i waited on the raw edge
of my name
spelled in spilled light
for your mouth to open
and the click of this syllable
leaping from the tip of your tongue.

from far far away,
a galaxy of static transmissions &
fuzzy signals you say
she's not staying long. i'll call you later.

but i'm tired and the stars have ceased to sing
in anticipation.
