I still can't get him out of my head.
Idiot, going and getting himself in that situation. Hell, I still don't even know what happened to him -- or where he is now, for that matter -- and I can't stop thinking about all the things that he could have done differently.
Is it that hard to keep safe?
He's just -- he's never made a responsible choice in his entire life. And he's never going to. He's so obsessed with feeling sorry for himself that he lets these things happen, just so afterwards he can say "oh, poor me."
... I would have pretended he was Mal's father.

Why couldn't he have --
I have so many other things to worry about.

So, I'm still thinking about those reports of the third fighting force in the Hanmor-Nasen conflict, the ones without any heraldry or banners.
I was thinking -- they managed to take out half a squad of Hanmor's infantry, one time, didn't they? I didn't put it together before, but ... if they are a militia, they can't be armed with pitchforks and sharpened tundra brush, right? I mean, I know enough about Korin to know that you're either a soldier, a mercenary, a lord, or a grubby, poor nobody.
If they're not soldiers, well -- mercenaries don't do anything without someone lining their pockets. And the nobodies ... if that's what this is, someone has to be arming them for them to have taken out an outfitted patrol from an actual army, right?
I guess what I'm trying to say is -- let's say it is a militia. That puts the same cards in our hand as if it's a third party, right? Look at the possibilities.
Either it's a mercenary group, and someone with money -- it would have to be a lord to get a troop that big -- is paying them.
Or it's bunch of untrained commoners, outfitted and trained by someone with money ... once again, it'd have to be a lord.
Or it's a troop. Under orders from a lord.
Is there something I'm missing, here, or did I just prove that someone with a House name is behind these reports?
