Oh, about Ema - again, it's another AJ character development thing, I think. Also, as she appeared in AAI, I think she's been kinda relegated to there now. I would've liked to have seen her, but at the same time while I loved her visual redesign I found her character development to be pretty bad in AJ, so I wasn't heartbroken that she wasn't in it. Same with Larry too - again, he had an outing in AAI, so they probably felt less need to give him screen time in DD.
I agree with you that the Aura/Metis reference was awesome and completely blatant. Aura's frickin' awesome and firmly on my cosplay list for next year! Also I love Athena and think she is pretty awesome. I did love Simon also, although I think he could've done with a bit more character development in addition to the backstory exposure that he gained over the cases. The new character set in DD were pretty good as a whole, Robin aside :D I frickin' loved Myriam Scuttlebutt - on the kink meme somebody suggested she could be Larry's daughter from a relationship before he dropped out of college and I found that idea pretty hilarious XD
I was so damn heartbroken about Bobby being the phantom. Like, actually going "NUUUUU" at my DS when that was revealed. Did not see that coming at all - how about you? I was actually okay with Gumshoe not being there because I liked Bobby that much, so the thought of him not being in the next one makes me SAD. Plus he had an awesome theme. But yeah, him ripping his mask off freaked me out no end, especially when he got to the Phoenix one. Creepy as, man. I thought all the breakdown sequences for the villains in this were fab - Prof Means was my favourite though, I was laughing all the way through his XD

I think I liked AJ more than a lot of people. Well, I liked the story and the new main cast characters a lot. As I mentioned, I hate the Perceive mechanic, and honestly I'd completely forgotten about the MASON system until you mentioned. I barely even remember how it works. I assume I blocked it out because it was terrible.
Yeah, I was really pleased with all the new characters introduced in this game. Usually there's at least one character in an AA game that I absolutely can't stand, but I had no such issues in this game. I guess Jinxie was the character I liked least, but I wasn't annoyed about having her around or anything.
Oh god, yes, the revelation about Fulbright was heartbreaking. He's such a loveable guy! I'm wondering if I'd like DLC featuring the real Fulbright, or if that's just asking for further sorrow.
Have you played the new DLC yet? I'm probably halfway through it and I'm in love with the entire cast.
