Martial Arts? I don't really know much about unarmed fighting, but I'm a pretty good swordsman.

Maybe we can exchange teaching. I know which end of a sword to hold, but that's about it, but I've been fighting unarmed since I was a young child.

We just need to find you a sword and a suit of armor, then. Hopefully it won't be too hard to find a spare set around here. When would you be ready to begin, if I can get my hands on equipment?

It's good to meet you, Ryu. Where are you from?

From a little farming community called McNeil, you?

The Riverlands. I'm not sure if that means anything to you, but it's in the east of my world.

Oh well.

Where'd you learn to use a sword? A teacher, or family?

[A slight pause.]

Both, in a way.

Tell me about them.

One of them is here, his name is Rei. He found me when I was a kid, and took me back to his home. There's Teepo, too, but...

[His tone changes, sounding quite grim.]

He's no longer with us.

I'm sorry.

We're in the same boat. My father - the one who taught me hand-to-hand, at first - is no longer with us either.

We can only do their lives justice by passing on their teaching and their memories.

It's not like you had a hand in what happened.

I... never knew what having parents is like. Rei and Teepo are all I ever had.

It sounds like you have a story to tell. I'd like to hear it, if you want to tell me.
