The lake outside Milliways simultaneously offends Bruce's sense of logic and fascinates him. That the lake exists at all behind the bar might be acceptable, but the fact that you can't walk around to the front of the bar without ending up where you came from is bizarre. The random island-style inlet in what appears to be an otherwise temperate-zone lake is icing on the cake.
But all in all, Bruce finds that when he's able to ignore the oddness of it all, the lakeside is actually quite soothing. And being able to relax at all, even only briefly, is so unusual these days that he's loath to examine it too closely lest it all fall apart.
Sitting on a rock by the water and watching the sun set behind the mountains, he wishes he could bring Betty here. Hell, he wishes he could see Betty at all.
