He had expected something like this, though having thought that they were in a fight, he had thought perhaps he may not have had to been involved.

It was difficult not to be, though, when there was a note taped to one's forehead with a certain brand of request that really seemed rather ridiculous. Afterwards...we can talk, and then, address. What afterwards was she thinking of, Neji wondered? Had she listened to him not at all, noticed nothing about his general state of being when she'd found him half-dead in the clearing by that temple after his own meeting with Mr. Weasel?

Sometimes, Neji wondered if the Lord had created him so intelligent just so he would have difficulty connecting with other beings. Other times, he felt it was divine justice to be able to say, I told you so.

He really didn't want to, though. He didn't want to go to that address and face once again the fallen being that had nearly ripped his immortal soul to pieces. Neji wasn't a coward, but he had some common sense (as opposed to Hinata's apparent complete and utter lack) and he actually learned from his mistakes.

But there was an obligation there, built into his being like a random string of genetic code. It said that he was inexplicably tied to Hinata, that she was his companion and therefore some strange part of him. Aside from his angelic nature (which was already bent toward good deeds and the general damning of the damned), his very being was being tugged in that general direction.

He stood outside the doors of a skyscraper and stared up for a moment, wondering if he'd come before, during, or after. He could hear nothing, but assumptions in this case were stupid and Neji was not that. So he went in, took the elevator (which he had mastered thanks only to Sasuke's overly-elegant apartment complex) because popping in and out of random floors seemed ill-advised, and began his ascent, waiting for a feeling.

He found it at the top floor.

The elevator made a ding when the doors opened.
