NAME: Ayn Starling
ALIAS: None
GENDER: Female
BIRTHDAY/SIGN: November 1st//Scorpio
BLOOD TYPE: AB
AGE: 19
OCCUPATION: Second year university student, majoring in dance with a minor in literature (no emphasis yet)//intern at a prestigious dance studio
APPEARANCE: Her flame-red hair goes to a little past her shoulders, generally straight but with a natural wave and it curls slightly at the tips. She has wispy, side swept bangs that are often falling into her right eye. Ayn generally will have it pulled back out of her face by a few pins or a clip, especially when she is dancing or training. Her eyes are a little wider that the norm, giving her an almost constant look of curiosity. However, when the rest of her face is blank, one can often tell her emotions by watching her eyes. Her eyes are a deep blue, which is only noticeable in the sun. When training and concentrating hard on her dancing, or even when she's in a bad mood, the eyes darken and the little flecks of gold aren't as visible.
She has a narrow face and relatively high cheek bones. Her ears are a little small, with two piercing on each one (on her left ear, however, is a silver cuff that has a small, thin chain linked to a third piercing). Her skin tone is a healthy peach, but because she has such red hair, she freckles easily and will almost always have a splash of freckles across her cheeks and the bridge of her nose.
Ayn is rather tall for a girl her age. As a dancer, Ayn's body is lithe and slightly muscular. She has long legs, bringing her to a height of about five feet eight inches. As a force of habit from dancing for so long, her posture is rigid and her hands are always held straight at her sides when she's walking or standing still. She holds her chin high, which gives the impression that she is looking down on people. While interacting with her fellow university students or even other people in her apartment complex, she has a bad habit of not smiling. But while dancing and training, she'll often have a bright smile on her features, which certainly makes her a lot more approachable.
When dancing, she prefers to go barefoot, or just wearing the small flats. Her shirt is an old T-shirt, torn off halfway down to reveal her stomach, strips of the shirt used to tie it both on one side and across the back. She wears a pair of sports-pants that come to the mid-calve and have a red stripe down the side; sometimes, she'll just wear the simple, close-fitting leggings to allow for full range of her movements. Ayn never leaves the bellybutton ring in while she's dancing, nor does she wear the cuff on her left ear.
Normally, her outfit consists of a tailored, halter-top styled vest that buttons down the front and has a collar, and either a pair of straight-legged black jeans with ankle-high boots or a tight black skirt that reaches mid-thighs with boots that reach to just under her knees. Sometimes, she'll wear a close fitting red shirt that has two straps on one arm (one over the shoulder and one around the side). Her jacket is a black, tailored piece with three-quarter length sleeves and hangs down to her knees; she normally keeps it closed with just one button just under her bust line. On one wrist, she has a thick, dark red leather band that fastens like a belt and is adorned with several small silver chains (for pure decorative purposes). Ayn also wears a thin, silver chain looped three times around her neck, with a small hematite ring hanging from the chain.
LIKES: watching the sunset or just staring out at the moon, sweets, antiques, legends/myths, mysterious things, being witty, dancing, stories, exploring, night time, chilly weather, reading romance stories, playing in water (streams, lakes, swimming, running through them etc), making things/watching people make things
DISLIKES: people who make too much noise, or act really obnoxious, large groups, the heat, repeating herself, people who question her actions, being compared to others
PERSONALITY: The girl will act differently in certain situations; being AB, her personality is naturally split--outgoing yet shy, confident yet timid. She chooses not to interact with her fellow interns at the office, often times deciding that she can get an assignment completed better by herself than with others. Ayn is not even close to many of her fellow interns (explaining for the rare occasions of a smile). Whenever she is in trouble (with a deadline, research, or even during a challenge), the girl will SELDOM ask for help--preferring to use her own skills than relying on others. Despite all this, she is a compassionate character. She is a bit of a romantic and a constant daydreamer when not on the job. The girl looks most peaceful when she is daydreaming, because she has a rather bland or annoyed face when working around others.
Ayn is a diligent worker, doing everything she is told by the higher-ups (she is very respectful to those a higher rank than she is, but to her fellow interns, she will act aloof towards because she feels that they are all on the same level and don't deserve her utmost respect). Despite being dedicated to her duty, she will often try to find ways out of working to read a book or drift off into her thoughts, which is part of the reason why she loves her literature minor so much.
Despite her normally cold, placid outward appearance, Ayn can be quick to anger. But she generally keeps that covered with a thick wall of ice until she can get away from whatever annoys her. When overly stressed, this girl is known to vent her anger by lashing out at someone verbally and sometimes physically. On the occasion that her emotions get the better of her around another intern or even a competitor, she will become extremely snappy and sarcastic.
Her thick pride keeps her from calling for help, as previously stated. It also spurs her to try her best at everything she does--despite any repercussions. It's not that she hates showing emotions in front of others; the largest problem is that Ayn prefers to work alone (she doesn't mind so much practicing and learning the dance steps with everyone else, but as far as her more studious jobs are concerned). The one thing she will try not to do despite everything else is completely loose it. She is the youngest amongst the five female interns, and only older than one of the men by a year, at the dance studio she was accepted to (there are eight interns including herself), and often struggles to prove herself to those who are older than her. The girl doesn't trust herself when she's in a grumpy mood, especially around her male companions, because she doesn't want to look so weak around them.
HISTORY: At a young age, Ayn's father left her family, leaving behind only two small bells: one gold and one silver (the two on her cellphone strap). Her mother never explained fully why he left or where he went, but remarried soon after. Her step-father was a well-known government official in her home city, and that, combined with her mother's money, put life for her was a little on the better side. She was however, sheltered. As her mother came from a proper family, Ayn was never allowed to explore the town on her own; as a result, she was home schooled until her final year of high school.
One summer a few years after her father left, her family had gone to see a traveling dance group. It was then, at the age of six, Ayn fell in love with dancing and begged her mother to let her learn. Since then, she's been practicing and performing, her dedication and skill aiding her along the way. However, her mother had wished that she would participate in more lady-like activities, and possibly consider the hint of a proposal from the son of one of her step-father's associates. Ayn always has been, however, a very dramatic character. In a fit of frustration, she packed a small suitcase and hopped onto the next train to Eminence, where there was rumor of a prestigious dance studio. It has been just over three years since that time, and she has enrolled in the university and earned an internship at the studio.
The only thing she liked to do that wasn't active was to sit and read. Her favorite kinds of books were romance stories; however, reading about the past interested her greatly as well. This made her a day dreamer and gave her a burning curiosity for trying to find out more about these other cities that must have been out there. When she was younger, before she dedicated herself to dancing, Ayn had dreamed of setting off on a grand adventure and discovering the ruins of abandoned cities.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Ayn is confident in her abilities as a dancer, always finding new chances to test herself against the other interns and regulars at the dance studio. She is very curious; while this can sometimes lead her into trouble, it also helps her stay ahead of the game.
OTHER: She can be a nasty drunk. Poor girl doesn't hold her alcohol very well. She can be out after a few shots.
QUOTE: "I think you're missing more than just the point."
