You know, you remind me of the babe...

Ahem. Rather hectic weekend, involving dashing from a lovely OU3FS meeting to not-so-lovely High Wycombe to meet old friends. Which basically involved getting incredibly drunk and eating pizza. In other news, watching Labyrinth and House of Flying Daggers back-to back at around five in the morning is a seriously hallucinatory experience. As is the Dantean misery of attempting to get a bus from Wycombe to Oxford. I mean, you'd think that they'd want you to actually be able to get on the bus once you've paid for the ticket, but for some obscure reason both the officials at the depot and the National Express website seem to be involved in some kind of Byzantine power-game which involves making sure no-one know when their bus is going ever. Normally, I'd take this in my stride, but due to the fact that their idle amusements resulted in another three years of my life being spent in the aforesaid High Wycombe, my "grin-and-bear-it" levels were a little low. Also, I had to write an essay on Tennyson today. Being the foolish and disorganised individual that I am, I thought that it would be a fantastic idea to leave all the reading and essay writing to less than 24 hours before the tutorial in which I have to Know Things. "After all," I told myself "They're only poems. How long can they be?". To save the uninitiated pointless speculation (or worse, research), I will tell you. In Memoriam is 200 pages long, and all of them are painfully Victorian. Therefore, my essay is not only too short and only covers one poem, but also posits that Tennyson is basically Queer for Jesus because he Likes Beardy Dead Men. Oh yes. However, I did get to use the word "synechdochic", which is an Intrinsic Moral Good (much like jacinthsong.
Tomorrow is Halloween, which means Rocky Horror, which means costumes. Which therefore will mean panic and superglue until five minutes after I was meant to be there. However, I will, I assure you, look fantastic. I have Plans for either a Very Pointy Carnival Mask or a creative use of my Bondage!BatHat. Speaking of plans, I have decided to attempt NaNoWriMo. This is because I am Insane. Especially because I'm planning to adapt some Old English linguistics excercises into a Surrealist Samurai-Saxon Detective Novel. I think. Also in the works are H2G2/Batman fic and an exhaustive explanation of why Dumbledore and Voldemort are One Gestalt Entity Damnit. Yes. I think I should sleep now.
