He should have known to question it when Jim requested him down in Engineering, but his mind was too caught up in the issues between himself and Leonard to be suspicious. He walked down to the appropriate sector and through the door, mind trying to think up reasons Jim would be meeting him down here, in this strange little room of all places. All

"- Leonard?" Spock stepped back around a step of boxes, the edges of his lips twitching. He glanced at the door, and began to guess what had actually happened.

Damn that man, he thought, even if he would never voice the sentiment.

"No. I did not. I had no knowledge that that was what your plan was." There may have been a bit of an edge to that statement. "The Captain asked me to meet him down here, as he seems to have done to you."

"We have never discussed it," Spock replied evenly, bypassing him to look at the door and see if there was anything he could do to open it from the inside.

"They do seem to be able to enact more schemes than before."

Spock's hand paused on the door.

"I do not know." The steely edge was gone from his voice. He had nothing to compare this to, no long relationships to learn from. He had seen other couples, yes, but he had no way of knowing what happened in their personal life, thus a comparison could not be properly made.

"I worry about it as well. It seems, except in the physical gratification area, I have little of the skills needed for a relationship of this level." He did not turn to look at him, not yet, focusing on the door though he knew it was unlikely they would be able to escape.

"Yet I do not think to see to what are apparently the larger things," he answered, turning enough to glance at him. "My name. My family. The Pon Farr."

Spock turned fully, reaching up to stroke his fingers across his cheek. "And that would be my fault. I treat you too much like a human, and not as a Vulcan's mate. I do not speak of the things I should, because of our secrecy, when you have every right to know."

"I will," Spock promised, even while wondering where they would even begin. "For now, however, it seems we need to catch up on personal things we have neglected to mention." He was not certain where to start there, either, but it might be less uncomfortable for Leonard, at least.
