38/365--Endangered Species Week

Feb 08, 2009 03:22

I'm so late on Saturday's photo but whatever, I'm awake! This week I'll focus on endangered animals. Not the endangered animals people usually think of, like polar bears, but of the ones that don't pop up in your mind when you think of "endangered species". Not that it makes the plight or polar bears or bowhead whales any less tragic :\

The Saiga Antelope. They used to roam all over Eurasian in the millions. Now, there's only rougly 50,000 and you can only find them in parts of Russia, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan.

When I look at the Saiga Antelope I am reminded of the proud Tauntaun.
