Psst. An awesome parental new babies present would be to pay for a babysitter for a few hours once or twice a week so Erin can get some downtime. The logic is, I'd only get a babysitter when I really, really need one, because I would consider it "frivolous" spending if I'd pay for a babysitter so I could have a 3-hour nap or go for a pedicure or something (having no family nearby that could watch the kids for a few hours), so my mom gifted me with babysitter when they returned home, which helps a lot.
I'm hoping to be that babysitter for the month I'll be there, but then, yes, that would be a really nice gift. I hate to say this about my own daughter who is about to have three children, but she has a tendency towards martyrdom. We'll see if we can make her take a break anyway.
Happy birthday! Larry cracks me up. Since it's OLD Canadian money, maybe it would be worth even MORE if he sold it to a coin collector type, right? I'm not helping, I know. :)
Ashley is BUILDING cabinets? Like, from scratch?!?
The stories of Nic -- and his MOTHER -- are just the best. Comedy gold, seriously! I can't thank you enough. Poor Erin. Of COURSE she'd have a ridiculous mother in law on top of a tool of a spouse who goes to conventions when she's about to pop with twins. Wow.
He's so, so weird sometimes. I just handwave a lot.
For the past couple of years, Ashley has gotten into carpentry big time. She's built a lot of furniture - tables, cabinets, that kind of stuff. She installed a floor in her old apartment, cut out my kitchen cabinet doors and installed glass, built a fake fireplace and bookcases in her living room. She has a whole workshop in her garage. She needed a pro to fix the walls in her kitchen after she demo'd it, and she's not a plumber or an electrician, although she's mapped out what the electrician needs to do, but now that the pro stuff is done, she's going to build the cabinets and install everything herself. She claims she learned it all from Pinterest. :)
Poor Nic. When I think about Kathy, I have much more sympathy for Nic. Except that I think he certainly inherited her self-centeredness gene, seriously.
The best part about Nic going to a conference right when she's due is that HE DIDN'T TELL HER until last week. He was probably afraid for his life, which he should have been.

Poor Erin. She's got enough to deal with without an insane MiL too.
Totally dope-ass bonsai. I can see that working for Adam!

Totally dope-ass bonsai pretty much sums up Adam's ethos. :)
