Make the Yuletide Gay

I almost forgot about this, but since it's still the middle of January, I guess I'm not doing too badly.

Make the Yuletide Gay! The best present you won't find under your non-denominational physical representation of the holiday season this year!

This year, chalcopyrite wrote Same Song, Next Verse" for me, making me extremely lucky. It's the most wonderful Trickyfish in the world, with Chris's recent fortieth birthday party as the anchor. It's a beautiful story, obviously written by someone who knows me, and I treasure it greatly.

I wrote Take you for a trip all around the world for Melanie. (The link takes you to AO3.)

The request was for a Lance/Chris AU with both of them having blue collar jobs. I'm not exactly a popslash AU person, but I did my best. I like to think Chris and Lance were recognizable as Chris and Lance, you know? Also, if anyone who read it knows me at all, it was crystal clear that I wrote it. I mean, there was Pittsburgh and there was Disney World. What more do you need?

This was the tenth anniversary (the 11th year, really) of Don We Now Our Gay Apparel/Make the Yuletide Gay, and I'm glad I did it. Every year I say no at first, and then I say what the hell, why not? This was my ninth year, which is amazing. I remember when it used to be such a big deal, the biggest popslash exchange of the year -heh, I guess it still is, only in a different way - and it was terrifying to find out who your recipient was, especially if they were awesome - omg, giddygeek! How could I possibly write a story good enough for her?!

And now it's just warm and comfortable and it wouldn't be Christmas without it. I don't mean to make it sound unimportant, because it's still very special. It's just a different feeling than it used to be.
