I should be sleeping, but I'm watching "Behind the Music" on VH1. It's about George Michael. I love these shows. And eff anyone who laughs, I still like his music.
I was only 9 when I first heard "Wake Me Up Before you Go-Go" in 1984. I remember seeing the video and thinking George Michael was soooooo cute. I suppose I was too young to notice his white gloves, pink shirt, and skintight white shorts as signs he was Teh Gay. In 1987 when he released "Faith" and I heard "I Want Your Sex" for the first time, I was 12. Good lawd I can remember feeling my hormones rise up and introduce themselves to me. I was in luuuuurve with George Michael. My older brother said "He's gay!" and I was PISSED OFF. No way! George was NOT gay.
I was so convinced of his heterosexuality that in 1998 when he got arrested for lewd behavior in a public bathroom, I said "Why on earth is George Michael fucking girls in a restroom in a public park? Why wouldn't they just go to a hotel if his girlfriend was at home?" I was at work when I heard and said that to one of my co-workers. She said "Ami, he was exposing himself to a man." STILL I didn't get it. I said, "You mean like a transvestite?" She said "No dumbass, like a man he wanted to fuck." I was stunned! Stunned I say! Watching this show now makes me just laugh and laugh at how naive I was. Duh! Oh well, good for him that he's happy being Teh Gay.
At least I know Ricky Martin is straight, right?
george michael,
