it started out really boring, like any other night... i ate at baja burrito with denney. then me, josh and sara watched the Warriors (awesome movie, cant believe its taken me so long to finally watch).
and then josh remembered about some dvd he found at his work pinned to a bulletin board. it was in a paper sleeve reading "youve been lied to all your life, take the red pill." (lame i know...) well we start watching it and it turns out its a well made video on conspiracies and the most interesting one ive ever watched to boot. its divided into 4 parts; christianity, 9/11, the economy and war, and finally the future. all of it is really eye openning and well cited, i cant speak for the future section because i havent watched it yet and i wasnt paying a ton of attention to the economy section due to excessive texting.
the christianity section was a complete mindfuck... ive always thought religion was a load of shit to begin with but now im sure of it. first of all there is absolutely no account of jesus from any one of the credible historians of the time. he cant be found in the records anywhere. there are like 7 different occurances of "saviors" throughout world religion before jesus. all fall into the criteria that they are born to a virgin on the 25th of december, lead 12 disciples, perform miracles, are the son of god, are crucified and resurrect after 3 days. the entire religion is one big plagarized metaphor, be it from pegan stories and beliefs, egyptian myths, astronomy, etc.
everything is stolen from a religious story prior to it. not to mention everything has a simple explanation. most of the explanations have to do with astronomy, which makes sense to me. that is the one thing common to every culture in every era, hence stories overlapping.
for instance, the ressurrection is a metaphor for the summer solstice. the sun reaches its lowest point on dec 22 (the solstice). it could be said it "dies" there. it just so happens to rest on the crux constallation, or "cross." it stays in that position for 3 days before it begins to rise in the sky again, thus ressurrecting and eventually ascending into heaven...
or another example, the birth of jesus... on dec 25th, the sun (or jesus) lines up with the brightest star in the sky which also lines up with the three stars making up orions belt (today, and then, referred to as the 3 kings). that results in the statement: the 3 kings are lead to jesus by the brightest star in the sky. im sorry, im sure im butchering all of this and not doing a good job of illustrating these ideas.
i firmly believe people believe this shit because theyre scared of the idea of hell. if ive offended you im sorry, this is how i feel and what i have put faith into believing. i respect faith in religion, i just dont have any myself.
im sure i sound like someone thats just watched a lot of conspiracy propaganda, and i have. but everything in this video was real eye-openning and i certainly dont see myself as a gullible or easily-swayed person.
i thought i was bitter and cynical before... i officially hate everything now.
