Character Name; Yamamoto Takeshi
Fandom; Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Timeline; After vongola rings arc
Abilities before entering the city (if applicable); Yamamoto doesn’t necessarily have abilities, although he does have good reflexes and is very athletic. He’s also a great baseball player and a user of the Shigure Souen sword technique.
History/Background; Yamamoto is a 14-year-old student at Namimori middle school. Popular, athletic, friendly, and laid-back, he seems to be the last person to ever attempt suicide - and of course, he does.
Yamamoto strives to be a pro baseball player, and when he has trouble improving his playing, he approaches Tsuna for advice on meeting that goal. Tsuna, flattered that someone as popular as Yamamoto was even talking to him, half-heartedly tells him that “more effort is the way to go.” Yamamoto laughs and accepts the tip, goes off to practice, and breaks his arm in the process. Distraught by losing the ability to do the one thing he thought he could do, Yamamoto decides to end his life by jumping off from the roof of Namimori.
Fortunately, Tsuna arrives just in time to give an awkward but sincere explanation on how he himself never had intense thoughts on ending his life because he feels useless, and instead, would feel regret upon death. Yamamoto seems moved, but accidentally falls anyway and drags Tsuna down with him. But thanks to Reborn’s dying will bullet, Tsuna saves Yamamoto and they attain a strong friendship with mutual respect and trust.
What Yamamoto doesn’t quite understand is that Tsuna is the next mafia leader of the Vongola family. Reborn, Tsuna’s 1-year-old home tutor, decides to recruit Yamamoto into the family. Upon being asked, Yamamoto agrees, thinking that it’s a game. After being given weapons, trained by being shot at, and getting hurt on multiple occasions, Yamamoto still seemed oblivious to the world of mafia.
During the Vongola arc, Yamamoto fights Squalo for the title of “guardian of rain”. He learns the Shigure Souen style from his father (after seeing them performed only once), and develops his own form in the middle of the fight to beat Squalo. Yamamoto still doesn’t show a complete understanding of the mafia. Regardless, he takes it extremely seriously and understands fully its violence and reality.
Personality; Yamamoto is generally friendly, easy-going, and optimistic. He usually maintains a calm composure in stressful situations, and tops it off with a smile. Not to suggest that he’s never serious - when his friends and those he respect are threatened, he will be.
He’s also unusually oblivious. When something unlikely happens, he probably wouldn’t understand it and instead think that it’s a trick or a game.
Loss upon arriving; Shigure Souen sword and techniques
Ability gained; sniper-scope vision (he can see pretty far, I guess 8D?)
Third-person sample; The baseball spun; its speed and power accelerating rapidly, slicing through the calm unsuspecting air until a rude object interrupted its freedom. The home run target.
“That’s ten home runs in a row!”
Yamamoto laughed and grinned at the man observing him.
“I have a great kid as my trainer.”
Yamamoto often spent time at the batting cage Namimori Ball. After all, baseball was important to him. He wanted to become a pro baseball player, and he truly loved the sport. From the delicate combination of deception and skill that is needed by the pitchers to the swelling sense of satisfaction in counteracting a throw awarded to the batters - baseball was both a game and a life.
Another ball was shot in his direction and Yamamoto quickly changed its course with his bat. Another home run.
Then again, the mafia was quite interesting as well. Yamamoto wanted to win against Squalo, and he had spent a lot of time and effort learning the Shigure Souen technique. His 9th form, mirroring rain, deceived Squalo perfectly. A product of instinct and thought in the heat of battle - a perfect pitch.
Another ball, another home run.
Baseball, mafia, games, and life; he played them, he lived them. Do they really need to be distinguished at all?
Home run, again. Yamamoto smiled.
First-person sample; Hmm? This is interesting. Are they reconstructing the entire place? Huh, and there’s no one around on the streets. Am I early?
Ohhhh! This must be another one of Reborn’s games! Ha ha ha! He went really far this time, making an entire city look completely different! He sure is amazing. I wonder if I’m suppose to find him and Tsuna?
