Quote:
No fear. No distractions. The ability to let that which does not matter truly slide.
Lesson: Try to live free of fear and distractions; focus only on the things that truly matter.
Interpretation: We tend to let our fear keep us from doing the things we wish to do. We allow ourselves to be distracted by things to avoid doing what we have to do. This lesson is all about focus. Pushing away the fear, getting rid of the distractions and deciding, once and for all, what matters in life and what doesn’t. Then deciding to let what doesn’t matter go and refocus.
Fear can be good, because it keeps us safe, but too much fear and we never really live. Distractions can be healthy for the mind, but if we indulge them too long, nothing of substance ever gets done. We hold on to too much, keep too much. Too many memories. Too many possessions. We are hoarders by nature, greedy and worried about having too little, about needing more. But what if we stopped? What if we tried to really narrow down our lives, finding the parts worth holding on to and discarding the rest? Would we be happier?
