[T'Pol's still in the infirmary. She's been having a pretty hard time with it, not that she'd say so. But there are plenty of little clues. Like the way she's tossing and turning in bed. Vulcans don't usually dream. Thus, no tossing and turning. But she's just about managed to kick off the covers, before waking with a very short, very sharp gasp. ( Read more... )

Oh Sexby. <3 with_discipline January 19 2010, 15:03:05 UTC
[She didn't hear him at first, but turned when she realized she was being spoken to. For a moment, she contemplated being completely truthful - the Kir'Shara had made it clear that lying was never acceptable - but sometimes she found it difficult to follow Surak's path completely. T'Pol nodded even while she pulled her knees up toward herchest in a typical not-okay fashion.]

I will be all right, sir. [Eventually, anyway. Half lies are okay, right? Not really.]

[She hesitated long enough that it probably seemed like she wouldn't answer.] A dream, [She finally said quietly.] I had a dream.

[T'Pol spared a sideways glance, and shook her head briefly.] Vulcans do not dream. Not under normal circumstances. [She hesitated again, and nodded.] A memory. In a manner of speaking.

[She wasn't particularly good at sharing these things, not even when it's logical. But sometimes she tries.]

I don't. She died, several years ago. [Her hand tightened slightly around the IDIC.] Today. Six years ago today. [T'Pol spoke quietly, not quite looking at Sexby.]

I have never dreamt about her before.

[T'Pol nodded, forgetting - or ignoring - for the moment that humans prefered more overt gestures of appreciation. She did appreciate what he said, though saying that wasn't as easy.]

Elizabeth. [She considered telling the story - but explaining a binary clone to Sexby didn't seem like a good idea.]

She was named for her father's sister. [She'd never known Lizzie, not in person - but Trip's memories of her were strong, and she knew how much he cared for her - and for their child.] Less than two weeks. I don't know the exact date she was born. [Secret clones. Make it hard to tell.]

I was not. [She glanced toward him again, head tilted to the side.] She was a binary clone - created from samples of my and her father's DNA.
