I believe I've found a project to continue with in the lab. I trust that the infirmary has kept records of the various illnesses that have shown up on board, but as far as I know, no one is studying them. (If I am mistaken, I will find another project or help if it's needed.)

[And there's a pause, like she wants to say something else. She's ( Read more... )

A game?

I am. I've recovered sufficiently.

[Long pause.]

You didn't tell anyone what happened beyond my warden, did you? Death is somewhat embarrassing for my people.

I did not. Your warden and those doctors in the infirmary were the only ones to hear from me.

Would you prefer if I came to you? [I.e., are you in the infirmary/okay enough to come here.]

I can come to you. Where would you like to meet?

And thank you.

[And T'Pol is waiting, reading a book to pass the time, her kal-toh set set up at a corner of her desk, with two chairs.]

[He knocks by her door when he arrives, giving a couple of uncertain glances down the hall.]

[She gets up to open the door. Rhade's probably the most likely to figure out how a Trek door actually works, but she's used to it be now. It whooshes open.] Come in. [She gestures toward the chairs and the kal-toh set.]

[He's used to ones that either chime when you stand in front of them or just whoosh on open.

He enters and looks strangely at the jumble of pieces as he sits.] That's interesting.

It's called kal-toh. The purpose is to form a perfect icosidodecahedra; to find order amidst chaos. [She arches an eyebrow an takes her seat.] I thought it may appeal to you.

[He nods, it does.] I can imagine its one of the more calming games to play. Like I find Go. [He almost reaches out to touch it, before looking to her for permission.

Also, he smells cat somewhere.]

[Cat is sleeping in the corner of the room, under her window, on a cat bed thing. She finally got him to gtfo of her bed. :| T'Pol nods for him to go ahead and make the first move.]

Go?

It's a tactical game. You are both given stones of two different colors and a gridded board. You take turns placing stones on the board. Whoever possesses the most areas, where you've surrounded stones of the other color, wins. [He takes one of the pieces and puts it to a different one expirementaly.]

You were showing interest in researching diseases. My kind are immune to most of them.

[She quirks an eyebrow, intrigued.] I see. I'd like to try it, some time.

[T'Pol studies the set, considering, and a moment later, shifts another piece.] As is mine. Are there diseases particular to your species?

No. [Most of them had been very pointedly genetically obliterated.] The only infection that seems to be impossible for us to recover from is a Magog infestation. We can even repair brain damage to an extent.

[He is looking carefully between how the pieces are shaped, how many there are, before he makes another move of his own.] I would be glad to show you my board some time. Mine is three tiers.

Nothing evolved over time? Yours is not a young species, I thought.

[She glances at him before making her movie, still considering the best shift to make.] Is three tiers normal?
