Shadows of the Soul (for onceaheroine) Slayer!Belle and Vampire!Gold

He knew her.  Some things might have changed over the course of five years, but not the important things.  She still patrolled, and without him around she was more or less alone when she did.  There weren't that many cemeteries in town; he picked the largest and sat on one of the headstones, waiting for her.  She'd be here eventually ( Read more... )

Archie had attempted to insist he was patrolling with her, but that had gone precisely nowhere. She'd pointed out that he was no warrior, and she'd be distracted by keeping an eye on his safety. Reluctantly, he had conceded -- and attempted to foist an elaborate check-in system based upon their grid of Storybrooke, so he'd have a good idea where she was should something happen and she not check in within a reasonable interval, but that would take time to make into something practical.

Slayers develop a strange sixth sense over time, Belle has learned, that tell her when there's a vampire nearby. A kind of gut feeling that's never, ever wrong. And even before she was called, she knew what it felt like when Nick was watching her. The combination was unsettling.

"Evening," she acknowledged his presence with a slight nod. "Waiting for me? You shouldn't have."

She certainly was calmer than she had been the last time they'd met. He could almost see the invisible walls she'd worked so hard to erect around herself. He could see the cracks as well, thin but enough to work at. He knew her too well for her to remain impassive around him.

"We were interrupted the other night. It hardly seemed fair to leave you so... frustrated." He grins at her, a wolfish thing that's almost familiar, but not quite.

I think that she probably at least tried to seduce Archie after all that. onceaheroine August 9 2012, 20:25:01 UTC
"How thoughtful," she tilts her head slightly, shutting down hard the slight flutter in her chest at that wicked grin. "But unnecessary."

If she had her crossbow, this could be dealt with easily. As it is, she's armed to the teeth otherwise.

the image of Archie's face in my head right now... with_aprice August 9 2012, 21:02:54 UTC
"It was hardly the most gentlemanly of behavior. I did make you a promise, after all." And he has plans to play with Archie a bit, for ruining said plans. Though there is merit in stretching these things out.

"Oh, sweetheart, there are many, many things about you that preclude the moniker of 'gentleman'. Especially now." Belle's stare is disdainful, her upper lip curling slightly as she flickers a dismissive look over him.

we can go back and play it out if you want. Interesting to see what way it would go with_aprice August 9 2012, 22:58:22 UTC
"There was never anything gentlemanly about your Watcher, pet. I should know." He taps his temple with his finger. He know every thought that Nicodemus Gold every had.

"He's had some thoughts about you, dear, that would make even a porno actor blush." He delights in twisting her memories of the man she loved.

That could be fun :) onceaheroine August 9 2012, 23:03:59 UTC
Her shrug is easy, blithe. "I don't care. There's literally nothing you can say that won't seem like lies through a mouthful of fang, vampire." (Privately, that thought thrills her a little. She misses Nick and misses too the opportunity to tease him about that.)

She's crossed the graveyard to a few feet from where he's standing and Belle sighs a little, resigned and doing her best to seem bored by the whole thing. "I gave you the opportunity to leave. I don't know why you've not taken it."

Gods, he's crude tonight... with_aprice August 10 2012, 08:28:43 UTC
"What reason would I have for lying, love? I haven't said anything that's not the truth, or a promise of what I will make happen. He wanted to bend you over one of these, you know." He let his hand caress the top of a gravestone. "Watching you fight was quite the turn on for him, even before he started fucking you. He even wanked to the fantasy, a time or two, though for some reason he felt guilty about it."

It was so cute when she tried to play bored and worldly. "I don't have what I came for yet. my dearest."

"A stake through your cold, dead heart?"

He was barking up the wrong tree entirely if he thought he could upset her by taunting her with the knowledge that the love of her life found her sexy. She knew only too well just how much a good fight turned her on, and Nick had been only too accommodating on the occasions she'd jumped him right after.

"He wanted your father to catch the two of you. Or the football kid your old man was to keen on. He wanted people to know you were his, and chaffed at the secrecy but remained quiet like the little coward he was." She used to be easier to rattle. It's a strange sort of pride he feels that she is so composed. She's a worthy adversary, and a more than worthy mate.

"That may be what you want, love, but not what I intend to have."

"Showing a bit of discretion in a problematic situation is not cowardice. It's intelligence."

She's close enough now to throw a punch, and considers doing so just to break the mounting tension a little. His eyes move over her like a caress and she rolls her eyes. "And it was respecting my wishes."

"Yes, it was rather all about you, wasn't it? Your needs, your calling, your wishes." She's close enough to smell her, now, and to remember how she tasted. He'd like to taste her again.

"Oh, fuck off." The retort is automatic, sneering. Because that was the closest to a landed blow so far. All kinds of retorts, justifications and arguments come to mind, but no. No, if she goes there, he'll twist and dig at the sore spot until she weeps.

Instead, she lashes out, aiming a powerful roundhouse kick to his head.

"Well look who's getting all defensive now. A little close to home, dearie?" He has an entire arsenal of words at hand. There's nothing like knowing your foe as well as he does.

He ducks her kick, catching her foot with lightening reflexes. one leg in the air gives him a rather enticing display of legs spread wide. He smirks at her.

"More like a little bored," Belle sneers, snatching her foot back out of his grip before he could pull her off balance. She feints as though about to try another kick before lunging at him with her stake, knowing all the while that would be too easy.

"Try that with someone who can't hear the racing of your heart, love." He laughs as she attacks him, letting her pull him to the ground because it means rolling on top of her. Despite being a vampire for five years now he's never fucked in a cemetery; he wouldn't mind ending that streak tonight. Mostly, though, he's just enjoying testing her.
