Catching up

Nov 10, 2008 10:26

I've not posted for over a week, so I thought it was time to catch up.

1. "Prodigal" = made of awesome.

2. I'm avoiding meta and negative posts about "Prodigal", because I have decided I am an "emotional" fan more than I am an "intellectual" fan - well at least just after it's been aired for the first time. I don't want my squee spoiled by reading non-squee, and I don't want problems I didn't see pointed out to me. This is not my life philosophy, but is one I take with regards to this show, and yes, is it is the equivalent of sticking my fingers in my ears and going "la la la la la la". Having said that I did come across the complaint that Teyla should not have hidden herself with Torren, but left him there and beaten up the Hybrid. This I agree with, and was expecting it. Doesn't really compromise my enjoyment of the episode, however.

3. I am SO glad I haven't posted my WIP meta about locations in Atlantis yet. Recent episodes have been a wealth of geographical info and I need to include this. Rodney does so love telling us where things are! Would someone please poke me until I post it? Seriously. I need to be poked.

4. I've been thinking thinky thoughts about my beliefs and how I cover them up when I'm on LJ. I'm leaning in the direction of being more open about my beliefs. It's hard for me to do, because I know how unpopular they are and that some of you (I know it won't be all of you) might want to roast me over a very hot fire. I'm not good with conflict, even on a fandom level. It makes me nervous and turns my insides to jelly. Nonetheless, I am who I am, and what I believe is part of that. Should that be hidden?

5. My Secret Santa fic has blast off. Unfortunately I have no real idea where it's going as the requestor is asking for an adventure story. Adventure to me means strong plot. I'm much more comfortable writing humour with a loose plot. HELP! Yes, that's a genuine cry for help.

6. Anyone here ever seen "Ed", the now-cancelled-will-never-appear-on-dvd-because-of-it's-soundtrack-and-a-whole-bunch-of-copyright-issues show? Yeah, that's the one where a lawyer moves back to the small town he grew up in, buys a bowling alley and opens a law office in one corner. I watched a hilarious episode yesterday that turned the whole "it was all a dream" trope on its head a little, where 2/3 of the episode is Ed's lucid dream. It also features Taye Diggs (always a plus point), and a funny, if sad observation of Ed's utter incomprehension of black street-lingo.

7. I'm hungry. I shall deal with this.
