[Elsa's morning starts like any other. She wakes up, takes a shower and dresses, goes downstairs to make herself some tea and breakfast. It's hot and sunny, which is the kind of weather she expects in the United States in the middle of the summer. She even (finally!) has the eye, eardrum, and hair back that she traded for her ( Read more... )

[For Vash it was yet another glorious day in Mayfield as he walked past the park. Smiling bright he gave a friendly wave to his fellow citizen, completely ignorant of the fact that she was practicing firearm accuracy.]

Hello there miss! Looking lovely as usual! It's another perfect day in Mayfield wouldn't you say?

....

[If he hadn't have mentioned how perfect Mayfield is, Elsa wouldn't have been able to discern droning from his normal idiotic facade. She stares hard at him.]

How long have you been droned like this? [Because, obviously, he knows the answer to this question.]

[Vash pauses in his stride at best.]

Droned? What's droned? That sounds like a very silly question miss. Has Old Betty been discussing her husband's war stories with you? I bet it was! The old bat has quite the set of pipes!

Droned. Exactly as you're acting right now.

I don't even know who Old Betty is. Snap out of it.

[He's been droned for longer than you have, you may have up the ante there if you want him to snap out of it.]

Really? Maybe you aren't part of that gaggle of housewives then. Say, have you found a husband yet? You seem like the perfect woman with whom I'd like to have 2.4 kids with. I'm not a communist, I love the perfect town of Mayfield, and I'm both figuratively and literally a breadwinner at the local bakery.

[She turns her rifle toward him. She won't kill him, but if she has to spook him by taking a warning shot she will. And if it hits him in a nonlethal area, so be it.]

None of those features appeal to me.

Don't you already have a wife?

Well I do believe I had one appropriated to me but it seems she's run off somewhere. Oh well. No one should be sad in Mayfield though, time to pick up another one I say!

It's a no.

You're better than this. Snap out of it.

Well I'm pretty sure you don't-

[There's a pause before light returns to Vash's eyes. They lock immediately on the barrel.]

[Cue Johnny Yong Bosch screaming as Vash ducks behind the nearest tree.]

[She lowers the rifle and scowls. Seriously, she knows he's not the village idiot--why does he insist on acting like one?]

If you're back to yourself, I won't shoot you.

[Much.]
