ANOTHER ONE-SHOT, Oh God..

Jul 05, 2010 17:06

Just came up with another one-shot idea.

I am so blaming lauralot  for this.. >:P

The flames of the apartment two-story apartment complex rose higher and higher, the roar though wasn't loud enough to cover the wild bubbly cackles coming from the madman already apprehended and being escorted to a police cruiser.

A man and a woman stood huddled together, closer to the building than the others that had lived in the apartments did. Sure, the rising flames practically terrified them but when a dark silhouette slunk out of the building from the side and started heading their way, they knew it had been worth it.

The closer the figure came stomping across the parking lot, then louder they heard the wails of a young child, coming from the person.

Soon, the figure morphed into Batman himself, and the sobbing screams could be identified as a little girl with messy short brown hair and a pink poofy jacket on. She didn't stop in her tantrum and notice her parents at all, not even when Batman reached them and held her out for the woman to take.

"Honey, shhh shh shh, we're here.. it's okay now.. we're here." The woman cooed and the man came in closer to coo to her as well, wrapping big strong hairy arms around both his girls.

Batman turned away and headed straight for Commissioner Gordon standing stiffly by the police cruiser with another officer bending slightly down to mutter obviously dark angry words at the clown behind the door and glass.

Soon, even from Batman's distance, even from behind the window of the car, the girl in her parent's embraces wailed out, shouting, "EDDIE! NO NO NOOO! HE'S STILL IN THEEERE!"

"What?" the woman breathed, her head shooting up to stare at the building they once called home. "Eddie..? Oh no.." She looked at her husband, "he was only a few months old.. just a puppy."

"Well," The man mumbled, lifting his trucker hat off his head and wiping his brow, "nothin' we can do no-"

A blur ran past, headed right for the building that looked ready to collapse.

"SHIT, NO!" Gordon roared, his head darting from the blur to back behind him where the door was open wide and the officer was knocked out on the ground, nose bleeding.

Even Batman was too baffled to react immediately, staring as the clown disappeared into the building...

...and likely up the stairs to the same apartment he'd found the girl.

He didn't know why the fuck he came to that conclusion, considering it was the JOKER after all. Shouldn't he still be laughing his ass off at everything he'd done, INCLUDING the wailing kid after her puppy's fate?!

Shaking his head to just clear it of the questions, knowing there was no time for that right now, he raced back to the stairs himself to get up there and apprehend the madman once again.

He only made it half way up, before he nearly crashed into the man running back down, smelling completely like the fire engulfing the building, wheezing, and his arms wrapped tightly around a bulge inside his purple coat.that was squirming around.

Batman once again just stood and stared as the Joker continued down and disappeared back to the parking lot, coughing a little on the way.

No longer running, he quietly walked back down himself and headed back in the obvious direction of the family.

He stopped half way and watched as the Joker scrambled over and went down fast on one knee in front of the woman holding the girl tight to herself protectively.

He opened up his coat and plopped a little scruffy looking dark furred scrap of a puppy onto the parking lot ground.

"Was in the.. the girl's bedroom, the door.. closed.. hiding under the bed.." The clown wheezed.

The girl squealed and nearly wrestled herself out of her mom's arms to scoop up the puppy that looked only a little disoriented from being in the clown's coat for a few minutes.

Joker stood up once more and just watched the exchange with a blank look on his painted face.

Batman took this opportunity to finally come up and grab his arms, pin them behind him, and usher him back to the police cruiser where the young cop was leaning against it with a hankie to his nose, glaring daggers at the madman.

Until he realized the Batman was glaring daggers at him.

He forcefully moved the cop away, and shoved the clown against the car to cuff him himself.

"Hey, Mister Joker!"

The girl's cracking high pitched voice made all the men turn to look, all eyes wide.

She stood there halfway to them, her parents a few feet away, once more huddled together and not sure who to keep an eye on. The men by the car or their daughter standing closer to them than they dared to get.

She lifted her puppy up higher in her arms, who was busy licking her face for some reason.

"Thank you very much for savin Eddie!" She maneuvered the puppy in her tiny arms to take his little black paw and wave it at them.

Batman continued to cuff the man, who didn't even say a word or struggle. He caught a glance of his face before pulling away, and tried to keep from letting his surprise show behind the cowl at the.. simple little smile on the clown's face.

Gordon and the cop got into the car and sped away, the Joker in the back still with the little smile.

Batman headed back for the batpod parked a distance away, unable to help over hearing the exchanged between mother and daughter.

"Honey, please do not EVER approach anyone like that again! That Joker guy is very, very, very dangerous!"

"But mommy, he can't be that bad if he likes puppies!"

I'm sorry, think the heat is really getting to me. Ugh. x_x This is what I believe the puppy looks like: cdn-www.dailypuppy.com/dog-images/maia-the-mixed-breed_47308_2010-07-02_w450.jpg
