I made Sambar for the first time today. Printed two recipes off the internet, and combined them creating what Rob, my mom, my dad, my cousin and my sister all said was excellent. Since our favorite Riverside Indian restaurant closed, we've been pining over the loss of a great Sambar, so now, I have my own recipe and the only tweak it needed was more heat. So instead of jalepenos, I am getting cerrano chiles. :)
I've been enjoying cooking again. I have not cooked so much so consistently in a long time. Mostly due to the fibro and just general blahs. I had no motivation. Now, i want to make sure Rob gets to work with a good hot meal and has a hot homemade lunch too. It's better than the fast food he had been eating. While the kitchen is small, the cramped space is more workable and useable. Now just to get a dishwasher for all the dishes we pile daily so I don't have dishpan hands every night.
Right now with only the living room and kitchen in order, I've been particular in keeping both areas free of clutter and mess. Until we manage to get the whole house clean, who knows what I'll do LOL. Fucking fibro... wears me out too fast. Tired all the time too. Burning the candle at both ends, but it's all right. I manage. I've missed having a daily routine and a place to just come home and relax at. I feel safer, content and more at ease with my surroundings.
We've been talking and planning for the spring and summer trips we're taking. Spring break to Tennessee and North Carolina for 10 days, and we're going to go ahead and get Magic Mountain passes for the summer so when Claire comes out to visit we can just pile in the car and in 30 minutes we're on Colossus! :) We also want to start going to Santa Monica Pier, and go to Venice Beach where Rob's great grandmom would hang out on her front stoop with the body builders and smoke her hash. LOL! We're home so to speak. And it's the planning for things to come that helps ease the stress that the move left us with.
It's not all buckets of roses and fun though. We've both been working very hard and will enjoy the time to relax.
Oh and Precious and Tink finally got to meet Dobbie! What a trio they were, well behaved, but Dobbie was far too interested in Precious' leg, tail.. backside--whatever he could hump! :) We need to get Tink fixed soon before the next visit... as to not have any Tinker-Dobbs running about.. but they would be OH SOOO CUTE!!!
Karma being what it is, I am taking things in stride, dealing with one issue at a time and getting myself through the financial stresses without too much bemoaning and pontification. I don't have it all down, and yet, I am keeping things in check too. It will get better. I know it will
Anyhow, judging that I am probably not going to get by tonight with much sleep as evidenced by previous nights, I am going to attempt to relax in front of the T.V. in the bedroom and hope for sweet dreams, not those strange rabid ones that usually manage their way into my subconscious! :)
