Bad Dreams
Ginny awoke with a start. Lying next to her, Luna was whimpering softly in her sleep and had pushed the sheets down off the bed. Ginny sighed and sat up, feeling around for her wand to summon the glass of water which Luna would need when eventually she woke up from her nightmare.
When the glass appeared in her hand, she got up and walked around to Luna's side of the bed, placing the glass down on the bedside table and leaning over to stroke Luna's hair. The blonde hadn't taken her hair down before going to bed and still had her hair up in high ponytails. The moonlight shone down on her and made her skin shimmer a bit. Ginny smiled and leaned over, pressing a kiss onto her forehead and started to whisper reassurances into her bothered mates' ear.
"Shhh… it's alright Love. It's just a dream."
Luna suddenly stopped whimpering and her eyes blinked open. She had woken from her dream with a soft "oh" and still appeared a little confused. As she focused on Ginny's face, she appeared to relax a bit and sat up.
Ginny smiled at her and handed her the glass of water. "Go on, this'll help".
Luna took the glass, daintily sipped some of the water and then handed it back to Ginny. "Thank you", she murmured.
Ginny put the glass back down on the side table and leaned over the side of the bed, pulling the sheets back around her lover, wrapping her arms around her and giving her a squeeze at the same time. "Was it the same one?"
Luna looked at Ginny with her large, pale eyes and nodded, a bit unsure. It wasn't often that Luna looked vulnerable. Ginny thought of her as one of the strongest people she knew. Luna always had a bit of hope in her, even when everything else was buggered. That was part of the reason why she loved her. But it was only on the nights when Luna had the dreams that Ginny ever felt that she was needed to be there to make sure that she didn't just shatter and break.
"It's always the same one", Luna answered. "I'm just sitting there and playing with her jewellery box and she's talking to herself, and me as well I suppose since I'm in the room. Then everything goes quiet and I can see it all happen again and she's on the floor and pale and there's blood everywhere." Luna's eyes squeeze shut for a second as if to block out the image. But then her eyes were open again and the dreamlike quality she was most known for wass back. "Even with all the blood and the fact that she's quite dead, she still looks beautiful." Luna smiled and Ginny held her tighter.
"You are beautiful, you know, just like her", Ginny kissed the side of her face.
Luna didn't answer, just moved aside and pulled Ginny back into bed with her. All was quiet and Luna raised her hands and held Ginny's face still. She brought her lips close and brushed them against Ginny's lightly. Ginny moaned and deepened the kiss but Luna pulled away.
"Thank you for being here for me… and being my friend."
"Oh Luna, we're more than friends, you know?"
Luna smiled and at that moment as she tilted her head, her face was bathed in moonlight. "Yes, I know. But you were my first real friend and I'll never forget that."
"Your mother would be proud of you, you know Luna."
Luna smiled. "I know."
Then there was silence as they spent the night wrapped in each others arms, moonlight bathing them in its silvery glow.
