Pairing: Lavender/Parvati, Padma/Steven Cornfoot
Summary: A little snippet from sixth year. Fluff.
Parvati giggled into her hand before looking back at her crystal ball.
Lavender sighed and gazed at her own. She wished she were not so jealous of Steven. She knew that she had dated Ron last term, but he was clearly infatuated with Hermione and nothing was going to happen between them. Not that anything would happen with Parvati, either, she firmly reminded herself. From the doe eyes the Indian girl was making at the boy, Lavender doubted that Parvati would be remotely interested in her.

Three weeks later, the Easter holidays were fast arriving and Lavender was sitting on the couch in the Common Room, by the fire. Being a sixth year had its advantages and one of them was having a warm seat on a cold day.
April was proving to be quite chilly, indeed, and the young woman still used her winter cloak when attending Quidditch matches or going outside (and, when she could get away with it, for any classes in the dungeons).
In the library the previous night, Lavender had seen Parvati studying with Steven Cornfoot, a Ravenclaw in their year. She knew her desire for the other girl was foolish at best -- she could become an outcast and worse -- but she just could not help herself.
Then Parvati burst into the room, her smile wide and bright enough to light the whole of Gryffindor Tower on its own. She immediately bounced over to where Lavender was seated.
"Guess what!"
Lavender tried to smile politely and shrugged.
"Steven finally asked Padma to go to Hogsmeade with him!"
"What? But…" Lavender frowned. "I thought you were spending time with Steven?"
"I was," Parvati replied cheerfully. "Padma didn't know if he would even be interested in her; she thought he might actually be dating Adelia Goldwater, you know, that fifth year from Hufflepuff. He wasn't -- he was just tutoring her in Ancient Runes! She is so happy! I think she is actually writing home to Momma to tell her about it. Apparently, she's had a crush on him since fourth year at the Yule Ball, if you can believe it."
"So," Lavender said slowly, "you don't want to date Steven?"
The other girl looked appalled. "Ugh, no! Why would I want him?"
Without another word, Lavender leaned forward and kissed Parvati.
