Hearing about all the racist spewing from the Bieber tween fans and hearing about all sorts of other racist spewing from young people, the idea that subsequent White American generations are becoming less racist has less and less plausibility.

Get ready for a bunch of generalizations )

white people shit, race talk, race

About ten years ago I was doing some research on microfilm and looking through old 70s papers.

There were black folks all over the paper, and none of them were being arrested, nor were they professional ball players. It was just . . . news stories that had nothing to do with race that happened to interview black people. Profiles of local business leaders. Some stuff about the Black Panthers that didn't portray them as hurp durp terrorism.

I stopped looking up whatever the hell I was researching and just started _reading._ And I realized: papers are not like this anymore. They do not even pretend to care about anyone else except for white people. They do not even pretend we are all one country.

I think white people are scared, selfish and only interested in multiculturalism when it makes the potluck more interesting.

And I think you give us too much credit when you mention third-wave feminism. I mean, some of us jumped on the bandwagon, but if I remember my history correctly the ideas started with bell hooks and Audre Lord and a few other feminists of color and it was Rebecca Walker who kind of started it off, yes, or at least named it third wave in the first place?

I've always said if Whites as a whole truly wanted racism gone, it would have vanished long ago.

Of course it would have. But instead, we want all the toys for ourselves.

If I had a dollar for every time some white person told me that 'political correctness has gone too far,' (which is code for 'folks are gettin' uppity,') I'd be retired by now.
