If I'm not mistaken, the town you're in at the moment is called New Bark. This place is called Johto. It's a different world - and quite an extraordinary one, at that. No one knows why we've been brought here or by whom, but the fact remains that we are. I hope that answers your question? I can't tell you what that creature is called, but I assume it's your assigned partner. We all have one.

They're the creatures inhabiting this world. Equalients of animals, I suppose, if you have animals where you come from. [He pauses for a second, regarding the girl] You're supposed to train and capture them, apparently.

Actually, we compete against each other. The prize is money, or 'badges' to signify your victory when you compete against ... gyms, I think they're called. No one knows why we were brought here.
