"I can't believe he's gone," Neville said, reality weighing down his shoulders. "It's all my fault."
Hermione looked at him, her eyes full of concern. "Don't say that, you know this was beyond your control."
He sighed, brooding silently on prophecies and fate. Lost in thought, he didn't see Malfoy approach.
The blond surveyed the situation. "For fuck's sake, Longbottom. Just flush the bleeding toad and be done with it."
"He has a name!" Hermione cried.
Malfoy snatched the lifeless amphibian, mercilessly flushing it before either Gryffindor could react. He smirked as it swirled down the bowl, "Bon Voyage, Trevor."
