You Make Me Sick:

Mar 11, 2009 11:45

For the first time in over a week I finally feel like a real person again. The flu has been knocking people out left and right, and it finally snuck up on me. I didn't get a very bad case, but it was enough that I didn't want to do anything but sit on the couch and watch TV every day. Which, granted, I seem to do a lot of the time already...but I was just coughing a lot while I did it.

While damned annoying, I did snag an amusing anecdote out of the whole thing. I was over at my dad's house for breakfast on Sunday morning and he had gotten it into his head that he wanted to make a quiche. Since he didn't want me getting my germ-y hands all over the food, and the boys were still asleep, I settled onto the couch to read the paper while he cooked. My father, bless his little heart, is the staunchest of Republicans, and one of his new favorite hobbies is making fun of/criticizing President Obama. He's perfectly aware of my political leanings, and purposely tries to get under my skin. So on this particular morning he hands me the opinion section and tells me to read a scathing little piece about Obama's stimulus plan. Since I've apparently become the adult in our relationship, I start reading the article. But about halfway through I got hit with really intense wave of nausea and had to throw down the paper and book it to the bathroom to relieve my stomach of its current contents. When I finally came back out, he had obviously heard me vomiting, and without missing a beat said, "Was the article really that bad?"

Everything else is pretty much par for the course. I recently "celebrated" my third year at Quest. Which means my bosses signed a card and gave me a pin. Party up in here.

School's keeping me fairly busy, and UNLV's parking situation makes me want to kill someone any time I have to go to class. They're in the midst of building a new parking garage, so they've got half of the T&M parking blocked off. If that wasn't enough of a hassle, any time there's an event at the Thomas & Mack Center, the parking that's left is halved again. It's ridiculous. I paid $115 for a stupid parking permit...it shouldn't take me half an hour of driving around to find a place to park. UNLV FTL.

In geeky news, I put up a new mood theme. Cordy! I never quite appreciated Cordelia the first time I watched Buffy and Angel. I think I was too blinded by my Willow and Xander love. But going back, I've realized just how awesome she is. Especially as her character progresses throughout Angel.

Just for funsies...here's a Slumdog Millionaire fanvid I came across this morning. My obsession with this movie only continues to grow.
