[It's a nice day outside-- and Quistis is a bit tired of being cooped up in her room all day, dealing with paperwork. She's also been holed up to avoid both Squall and Xu, but that's an entirely different matter

[Quistis, you knew Xu was going to find you. Really, could you hide from her? So here she is, sneaking up behind you. She really should have gotten into espionage when she was a cadet.

She leans over Quistis' shoulder.]

So... what's up?

[Hyne, Xu would manage to find her the day she finally steps out of her room. Quistis doesn't even bother to hide her exasperation as she lets out a loud sigh.]

Nothing, just looking through my cards.

[Xu rolled her eyes, moving around to sit on the bench next to her friend.]

Trying to build a new deck?

[She gave a shrug.]

Not really-- just looking through my cards. It's been a while since I've played. [Since, you know, she doesn't remember Strip Triple Triad.]

It is-- and I bet I could still beat you in my sleep. [She's only teasing, even if it may be true.]

Well, you can beat me when you're drunk, so you probably could beat me in your sleep.

[She laughs a bit.] You always were better at me, even if I didn't want to admit it.

[She laughs in response as well.] Well, it's nice to know that I can still somewhat think even when intoxicated.

I think you might have gotten lucky a few times, to tell you the truth. I was more intoxicated than you were.

[Right. Talking about that drunken night? What she's been avoiding. Thus, she changes the subject.]

More like nearly miss him as I was walking in the hallways. [She mutters.]

He's aged really gracefully. At least we know how Squall's going to look when he gets that age... unless he worries himself to death first. [See, look! A joke! She smirks at that last part.]

[Quistis rolls her eyes.]

And why would it be of any interest to me how well Squall ages? [Because she doesn't care.

In case the two of you have cute little children together? [And she gets up immediately, out of range of any fists.]

[Xu, you are HOPELESS.

Even as she moves to get out of the way, Quistis throws one of her Caterchipiller cards in her friend's direction.]

[And dodge! She picks up the card after it's fallen to the ground. She's laughing.]

Oh come on. I'm trying to make a joke.

And I'm obviously not amused, which kind of defeats the purpose of your joke.
