001 [Action] Lobby!

Aug 28, 2010 14:27

[Have a perplexed, out of place Ryu.  His attention is on a piece of paper in his hands, trying to make heads or tails of the situation at hand.  The whole school thing was new to him, as, hey, farming communities don't really need education, they just need able bodies and sharp tools.  Granted, he was deeper in the woods away from them, but it all ( Read more... )

[ She'd already been here for the first quarter, but the idea of the school still felt foreign to her. On her way to the cafeteria for something to eat, she paused at the unfamiliar person in the lobby. So, naturally, she padded over towards him. ]

Hello?

[It took him a moment to register her presence. Pardon the poor boy, Terra. He's got a lot on his mind. :(]

Huh? Oh... Hello. Are you a student here?

[He wasn't sure if she could help or not, but any port in a storm.]

[ The poor boy is pardoned. She expected that a lot of people were like that their first time - she certainly was. ]

Um, yes, I suppose so. Are you a new student too?

I don't really have anywhere else to go, so it looks like it.

[He offered her a smile. Whisked out of your own world after defeating a Goddess was still no reason to be rude, after all!]

My name is Ryu.

You were pulled from your world too? Ah, I mean, you're not a native... hrn. [ Still, she smiled back, though the expression looked a little odd, like she wasn't given to doing it often. Serious pouty esper is pouty and serious. ]

I'm Tina. Um... welcome to Balamb Garden?

Yeah. There isn't really a place like this where I come from.

[He will break her of this habit, if it takes fishing for whales to do it.]

Weird name for a garden, and there aren't even that many plants around here. It all feels too... clean. Sorry, I'm used to traveling. Give me the open air, stars, and a bedroll? I'm content.

I don't think there's anything like this where I'm from either. It's .. I've been here for a few months but it's all still pretty strange to me.

[ Yay fishing for whales! :D ]

Mm... I .. don't think it's an actual garden, like the sort with flowers, really. There are a few in the training center, but... [ Still not how she classifies a garden. There is a bit of surprise at the last, and perhaps a bit of relief. ]

Really? Me too - I don't like feeling like I'm confined indoors. I like the open air.

Well, it's sorta nice to know I'm not alone on how I feel about the place so far.

[He glanced over with a smile. He didn't think he'd find someone he got along with so quickly.]

Sounds like the start of a good camping trip, then.

[ Terra nodded thoughtfully. ]

Many of the people I've talked to seem to think this sort of... environment is "normal". At least for them.

[ She's pensive a moment, then blinks in surprise at mention of the camping trip. She grins again. ]

That sounds like it will be fun. [ Or at least, familiar. WHich is good enough. ] So do you know your way around here already?

Uh... [He paused, grinning sheepishly.]

Not at all. I barely got settled into my room before setting out and getting a look around. Truth be told, I'm not even sure if I could find my way back to my room.

Oh -- that's not good. Um -- well I don't have any classes today. I could show you around a bit again if you like. At the very least, I should show you how to get back to where the boys dorms are.

Would you? I'd really appreciate it, Tina. I mean, I've seen castles, and big cities like Wyndia... This place?

[He had to whistle appreciatively, turning his body to take in the whole area.]

This is a whole other story. Oh... [His attention returned to Tina, hopefully he wasn't hurling too many questions her way.]

What's the training center like?

[ Castle... Terra looks thoughtful for a few minutes, a frown crossing her face, and then vanishing again. ]

No, I don't mind. [ Better her than Ryu coming across one of those rude girls that don't like the newcomers. ] We can go to the training center first, and you can see for yourself.

[ So saying, she sets off, pointing in another direction. ] Oh, the library is just over there - it has a pretty big selection of things to read.

I'd like that.

[He stood up to follow her, gathering his fishing pole as well.]

Really? I've never been to a library before. We didn't have them where I grew up. [Note: Momo's lab isn't counted as a library. It's counted as a death trap.]

[ Terra casts a puzzled look at the fishing pole, even as she takes a step back to lead Ryu towards the Training Center. ]

What's that? [ It didn't look very ...weapony. But you never know, people have weird fighting methods here. Another pause. Yeah, she couldn't say she remembered seeing any death trap/libraries where she was from either. Nothing like this one anyway. ]

Really... it's a nice place to go as long as you're quiet. I like to go there sometimes, on my free periods. Although to be honest, more often I tend to go to the Training Center or down to Balamb Town when we're there.

It's my fishing pole. One of my hobbies, it helped me relax. I left my sword back in my dorm, I didn't think I would need it. Besides, the pole makes me look a lot less intimidating, doesn't it?

[Her question, to be honest, was a bit puzzling. Who hadn't seen someone fish before? Then again, for all he knew, Terra could be from a place with an endless desert, or something he couldn't even begin to fathom.]

I don't think I'll have a problem being quiet, but the library sounds too stuffy for my tastes.
