[Have a perplexed, out of place Ryu. His attention is on a piece of paper in his hands, trying to make heads or tails of the situation at hand. The whole school thing was new to him, as, hey, farming communities don't really need education, they just need able bodies and sharp tools. Granted, he was deeper in the woods away from them, but it all

Hello?

Huh? Oh... Hello. Are you a student here?
[He wasn't sure if she could help or not, but any port in a storm.]

Um, yes, I suppose so. Are you a new student too?

[He offered her a smile. Whisked out of your own world after defeating a Goddess was still no reason to be rude, after all!]
My name is Ryu.

I'm Tina. Um... welcome to Balamb Garden?

[He will break her of this habit, if it takes fishing for whales to do it.]
Weird name for a garden, and there aren't even that many plants around here. It all feels too... clean. Sorry, I'm used to traveling. Give me the open air, stars, and a bedroll? I'm content.

[ Yay fishing for whales! :D ]
Mm... I .. don't think it's an actual garden, like the sort with flowers, really. There are a few in the training center, but... [ Still not how she classifies a garden. There is a bit of surprise at the last, and perhaps a bit of relief. ]
Really? Me too - I don't like feeling like I'm confined indoors. I like the open air.

[He glanced over with a smile. He didn't think he'd find someone he got along with so quickly.]
Sounds like the start of a good camping trip, then.

Many of the people I've talked to seem to think this sort of... environment is "normal". At least for them.
[ She's pensive a moment, then blinks in surprise at mention of the camping trip. She grins again. ]
That sounds like it will be fun. [ Or at least, familiar. WHich is good enough. ] So do you know your way around here already?

Not at all. I barely got settled into my room before setting out and getting a look around. Truth be told, I'm not even sure if I could find my way back to my room.

[He had to whistle appreciatively, turning his body to take in the whole area.]
This is a whole other story. Oh... [His attention returned to Tina, hopefully he wasn't hurling too many questions her way.]
What's the training center like?
Reply
No, I don't mind. [ Better her than Ryu coming across one of those rude girls that don't like the newcomers. ] We can go to the training center first, and you can see for yourself.
[ So saying, she sets off, pointing in another direction. ] Oh, the library is just over there - it has a pretty big selection of things to read.

[He stood up to follow her, gathering his fishing pole as well.]
Really? I've never been to a library before. We didn't have them where I grew up. [Note: Momo's lab isn't counted as a library. It's counted as a death trap.]

What's that? [ It didn't look very ...weapony. But you never know, people have weird fighting methods here. Another pause. Yeah, she couldn't say she remembered seeing any death trap/libraries where she was from either. Nothing like this one anyway. ]
Really... it's a nice place to go as long as you're quiet. I like to go there sometimes, on my free periods. Although to be honest, more often I tend to go to the Training Center or down to Balamb Town when we're there.

[Her question, to be honest, was a bit puzzling. Who hadn't seen someone fish before? Then again, for all he knew, Terra could be from a place with an endless desert, or something he couldn't even begin to fathom.]
I don't think I'll have a problem being quiet, but the library sounds too stuffy for my tastes.
