*...he's not exactly comfortable in the uniform. Oh, it fits fine, he can move perfectly well in it, it's even a little bit stylish. But the fact remains that this is a uniform for a SeeD, or at least somebody who wants to be a SeeD... along with everything that implies, although he doesn't much know what it implies yet, considering how little he

That said, she could tell during the welcome ceremony that a lot of the people who were brought here aren't soldier material. She thinks she should try helping them adjust, at least until they find better prospects.
She's oddly taken out of her reverie when she hears someone nearby mutter something in a foreign tongue.]

Ah... ...hello?

Ah, greetings. Forgive my curiosity, but I am unfamiliar with your native tongue. I suppose you were spirited from another world as well?
[Given that Gwendolyn not only speaks English, but uses less modern words and has an unusual accent, this might be one of those cases where it's good to be psychic.]

...Japanese. I speak Japanese, and... I come from Earth. Do you know it?
*pausing to scratch his nose with a little frown; he can't help feeling like he's tripping over his grammar somewhere. Regardless, his voice, while accented itself, is soft-spoken and calm.*
Sorry, I have bad English... I think.

Ah, do not worry, I understand learning a new language can be vexing.
I am not familiar with that world. I hail from Erion, myself.

*shaking his head with a brief, slightly rueful smile* .....So much to learn. *it seems he hasn't heard of her world either, not that it's terribly surprising. He can't help the way his smile widens a little as he eavesdrops on her thoughts, though; he's never found himself compared to a Dwarf before.*
...you have... gone to travel, many places...?
*along with the question, he shakes some of the gummies out of their package, holding them out in offering.*

I have seen much of my world before being brought here, yes. Only the lands of the Vanir have been barred from me. [Partly because her people have been at war with those fairies for so long, granted.]
[She notices the sweets he offers. She takes a few for tasting.] Thank you, ah... I am Gwendolyn of Ragnanival.

...Tsukumo... Murasame. *gee, it sounds funny to say his name out of order, though* You're welcome.
....I see. *pausing with a thoughtful frown. Oh grammar, don't fail him now* You have gone... inside world. But not... outside...? *he's not sure what to make of how blasé she seems about the idea of other worlds existing.*

[Gwendolyn takes a moment to guess what he means; in a way, it was easier to guess with the younger Dwarves, if only because she had learned a bit of Dwarvish herself growing up] Ah, no, 'tis my first time in a world not my own.
[Somehow, she's reminded of that old legend about how the people of Valentine were originally from outside Erion. That, and the known existence of the Netherworld, was part of why there had always been a theory about other worlds existing.]

In Earth, people think... different world is, ah... fairy tale. For kids, or... fantasy comic. Game. Not real things. *even among the Zweilt, while they know whatever dimension their enemies the Duras come from is a real place, his clan generally thinks of it all as just one world. It never really occurred to him that there might honestly be places like this out there in the universe.*

You think... why you came here? Fate? Luck? Special reason...?

[She thinks it's a punishment, and a rather unusual one at that. Maybe that's what happens when one kills a valued general and rescues an enemy of the state, only the enemy of the state is the king's illegitimate daughter and the valued general was going to reveal that little fact after the execution to spread dissention among the ranks. And her Father the King knows all this but can't publicly reveal any of it.
All this and they still can't activate that accursed Cauldron. And she's not even sure if that thing was one of the Catastrophes. Maybe it isn't and this whole thing happened because Velvet misinterpreted a prophecy.]

*he doesn't know how to express what he's thinking in English, really. Very cruel. Even as a punishment. Then again, perhaps it's jut as well; if he can't make himself understood, it also becomes harder to accidentally give his secret away.*
...not nice. Sent person out of her world. This place is... Fighting. A lot. *Dangerous, he'd like to say. Judging by her thoughts earlier, she's fairly prepared to deal with it, but it still seems like a cruel thing for a father to do to his daughter.*

[As far as punishments go, Gwendolyn believes it could be a lot worse. Being placed in a position with a real risk of dying in battle is no different than the norm for a Valkyrie. At least she didn't have her wings clipped and forced into marriage.]

His eyes widen a little, and he glances toward her back before he can catch himself. Those feathered things back there -- he thought they were just some kind of odd decoration, but...
He pauses and just gives a slow nod of acknowledgement after a moment, trying to act natural.*
...you fight very much, at your world?
