[A majority of the youths here are respectful enough towards their elders, all except for a remote few who seemed to possess less tact than a braying ass. However, in the cardinal’s most humble opinion, this world certainly seemed far more peaceful than the world he’s accustom to. Then again, how peaceful could this realm be if they hire child soldiers to fight their battles?

Glancing down the hall once he spotted a glimmer of silver, Albert noticed a slightly worn fellow making his way towards the Training Hall. If the man had been a young student, Albert wouldn’t have given him a second thought. But it would seem that this fellow is far too old to be a student here, he could judge that much by the salt and pepper hair.]

Ho, ho! Another unfortunate soul? How interesting…

[Oh great. That was Auron's thought upon hearing a voice that sounded too much like an elderly gentleman. And an amused one at that. Auron's favorite kind.

He doesn't need the hold up, but he turns in the direction of the voice.]

Oh?

What's interesting about it?

[Figuring that the swordsman wasn’t amongst the Garden staff, Albert wondered if this fellow was one of the many refugees displaced during this Time Compression nonsense.]

This faculty is meant to be used by the students and staff, good sir. That is if you mean to make your way towards the Training Center.

I do. Well then.

I'm a student.

[Auron's lie is obvious, and he meant it to be. As far as Auron is concerned, it's none of this guy's business, since he doesn't look like staff himself.]

[That reply actually won a laugh from Albert.]

If so, then I suppose you've failed the exams more than once.

Ten times.

I guess it's about triple that for you.

[Chuckling once more, the old cardinal decided to leave the jest to the wayside for now.]

You are new to this Garden as well, correct? If so, then it's safe to assume you hail from another realm.

That's right.

It's a common problem.

[Judging from his clothes, Auron guesses that this man also came from elsewhere.]

A problem that no one seems to know how to fix. Grievous, isn't it? Although, it could be worse.

[Whatever this worse could be, Albert was thankful not to experience it.]

I do believe introductions are in order. I'm Roger Bacon, one of the many hopeful would-be instructors of the Garden.

[He bowed elegantly before the brutish swordsman. After introducing himself to the higher-ups by that name, Albert figured he might as well get used to using it again. Surely, the real Roger Bacon wouldn't mind it much.]

And I'm Sally Smith.

[Something about this guy, Auron didn't like and didn't trust. His instincts weren't usually wrong, though there was always the small chance he was mistaken; that Roger Bacon's mannerisms simply rubbed him the wrong way, reminding him of someone he didn't like.]

It's Auron.

[Auron was glad Roger Bacon bowed, only because it meant he didn't have to shake his hand.]

Nice to meet you. I hope you get your wish.

[Quietly judging the swordsman's demeanor, Roger decided to let that 'Sally Smith' joke go by without a comment.]

It's not much of a wish to be honest. I am merely interested in this academy because of their usage of technology & magick.

[He chose to leave out his interest in the otherworldly students for now.]

I suppose the same is for you, Auron.

FYI, Roger is reminding him of Kinoc anothersstory May 29 2010, 22:12:18 UTC
No, I have no interest in their technology or magic.

Sorry.

[Since Auron doesn't trust him, he won't tell Roger why he's here, though it would be easy enough to find out.]

Already? That's rather quick. crestofamon May 29 2010, 22:31:27 UTC
Then what are you interested in? The Garden facilitators aren't very fond of lending their housing towards anyone other than potential SeeD nominees.

[He saw proof of this when a few refugees were escorted out of the facility earlier today.]

Call it, fulfilling a promise.

Have you heard of knights? In my world, we have something similar.

[Happy now?]

I resent that! Kinoc was a fat ass! Albert keeps in shape! ;3; crestofamon May 29 2010, 22:53:29 UTC
[Not quite, especially since this fellow is a man of very little words. Trying to provoke a conversation from this stoic swordsman was as daunting as getting a feline to talk.]

A knight you say?

[Roger must have looked somewhat surprised.]

It has been six hundred, and ninety-nine years since the last time I met a knight.

[And let’s just say that meeting went just as poorly as this one, all except for the fact that the Knights Templar were quick to arrest him under the suspicion of heresy.]

If you are truly a knight, then I suppose I am keeping you from more important business.

LMFAO! Auron is just bitter. anothersstory May 29 2010, 23:09:40 UTC

Your definition of a knight and mine might differ slightly.

[Auron oddly smirks at the prospect of this man leaving him alone, however.]

Six hundred and ninety-nine years. You'd have to be dead.
