[Apparently, most people didn't come to the Parking Lot too much. Fortunately Dataku was not 'most people'. So inside the dimly-lit, awful smelling Parking Lot, you may find a silver-haired kid in a leather coat walking around. He occasionally rests a a hand on one of the objects -- a vehicle, say, or maybe a wall -- but never for long, and he ( Read more... )

[Recently , Shelke had became a sort of errand girl for one of teachers. It wasn't exactly her choice but she didn't complain. Her hands are holding a parcel as she walks though the lot, looking for the automobile to it was supposed to be stuck in. Imagine Shelke's surprise when she finds the car but with Data Riku's hand on it.]

Wha....?

[Shelke had come in between Dataku's periodical surveys of the area, so her statement caught him by surprise, and he whipped around immediately. He clearly thought that she was someone who had come in, wanting to catch him, but once he recognized the girl his worries were dimmed.]

...Oh, Shelke.

[ She nods to him and sets her parcel on the automobile before continuing.<\small>]

What are you doing? [ She hopes that she doesn't sound abrupt. It had just been a while since she had seen him and curiosity had her]

It has been a while , Data Riku.

Just looking around. I've been wondering what was down here. [Despite his casual (for him) tone of voice, Dataku immediately takes his hand off the machine.]

...It has. How have you been?

I've been well. [ That is true at least. She had been trying to adjust to life here and make friends. Not that she had really succeeded so far and honestly is glad to see a recognizable face.]

And you?

I'm pretty good too, overall. At the least, I'm getting used to life here. [Dataku is now an expert on Garden! Gone are days of the embarrassing escapades surrounding the understanding of human life! ...Mostly.]

What have you been doing, then? Joined a club or something? [He turns around and leans on the tank, watching her.]

Thats nice... i'm happy for the success in you endeavors. [ At least one of them is used to Garden. it has been months and Shelke still feels as if she just arrived.]

...I'm afraid I have not gotten around to joining any extracurricular organizations. My time has spent mostly in class and the library. I've even managed to successfully construct a model for a link up to the computers here. I no time I'll be able to perform a SND and jump right in! [ She is purposefully steering the convo to something besides her nonexistent social life]

That's good. [His face brightens. He can kind of tell that she isn't quite at ease here, but at least she found something to make it a little closer to home.] I doubt I would ever be able to link into any of these computers, though. My body isn't data anymore.

They would not be able to sustain the link if you went in from what you have told me. They are very primitive. I did manage to create the link. It isn't a sure thing. Glitches still can happen.

[ She frowns.] And the glitches can be dangerous.

...Glitches are dangerous.

[His face suddenly goes quite grim.]

Yes. From what I've gathered it disorientates a person , but it could be worse. ...I need to run more tests...

...Be careful. They can be very volatile, though I'm sure you know that already.

[ She waves a hand.]

Do not worry. I have taken precautions. The only thing I need to do is establish a system to pull me out if anything goes wrong. Currently it can only be operated externally.

[She flashes him an unpracticed smile.]

I'll be fine.

If you need me to, I could operate it for you. [It wouldn't be the first time he's done something like that, anyway.]

Would you? That would be very kind of you.

[She would rather not put it up to chance if the computer eats her or not.

Of course.

[Naturally, Dataku is not taking into account the fact that he may or may not even be in his right mind to do it.]
