Oh! Ha, no, I don't even think that would help. I didn't injure myself, I just ended up straining a little. [A little more than a little.]

Did it help with what you were trying to do, at least? [Mikuru makes a gun shape with thumb and pointer finger and slashes that hand: Are these gunblade strains?]

It did. I did a lot of repetitive drilling last night. I hate that, but sometimes you just have to hammer the basics into your body till it gets it, right?

And then I woke up this morning... [She grins, embarrassed.]

[She nods in understanding, and smiles back.] I bet it's worth it in the end. [She 'bets' because they're not at the end yet...]

It better be... [Maria folds her arms determinedly, then winces at the gesture. But she soldiers on.] Especially now that I'm the only person who uses gunblades here. At least that I know of.

You're thinking too small. I plan to be a hero to the whole world.

[Only Maria could say that sort of thing with a straight face, deadly serious. But she'd leave time for the cadets!]

And I have to be the one that inspires people to learn them to begin with.

[And that seriousness is what Mikuru likes about Maria.] That's what I meant, you'd inspire cadets to learn them. One thing at a time, right? First Garden, then the world...?

Right! I need to graduate first! And to do that, I need to get better at my weapons.

Argh, why does it take so long to get to the practical part of using Limit Breaks?

I know! I mean, I guess the research time was good, but I could never get the hang of Blue Magic; I wish we hadn't spent so much time on that.

I've known from the beginning what my basic Limit Break was going to be. It's good to know what other people can do but come on!

...What'd you end up developing, anyway?

I never came up with a name for it, but I start casting buffs, and it doesn't come out of my spell stock. Shell, Protect, a Double someone lent me... The Instructor recommended I take the higher level Indirect Magic courses to see if I'd cast those spells too.

Oh, that sounds really useful! So you can focus on stronger physical attacks without expending valuable Junctioned magic!

[Mikuru doesn't think her physical attacks are that much stronger, but she nods.] It'll be good if I'm fighting with a team, I think.

And especially against anyone who can dispel that sort of protection. Do you cast anything on enemies, too, or is it just allies?
